2023 stock Gladiator Mojave rear end driver side clunk

I’ve taken my jeep to the dealership twice now to try and fix this clunk/clang noise before I put a lift on my truck so they cannot blame it on the lift. First visit they said my rear track bar was slightly loose at the linkage so they tightened it but problem persists. Second trip down they tightened everything in the rear again and said they cannot duplicate the noise I’m hearing so there is nothing to fix.

That all being said, every morning when leave my jeep overnight in the garage on a flat surface, I back down my drive way. As my rear tires roll down the rolling curb to the street I hear an initial clunk. Midway as I’m completing my back out, as the body/ suspension flexes from the height difference of the driveway and the street there is a metallic clang (pretty standard driveway angle), almost as if it is resonating through the bed (dealer did not check to make sure the bed mounts are tight even though I asked). I have only ever owned wranglers so I’m not familiar with what is normal and acceptable with a truck. This noise is not heard again until after my jeep has again sat untouched for hours, after the initial clang I cannot duplicate it until before mentioned conditions are met.

All videos recorded are after the truck has sat in the garage overnight

dark video engine not running:

clunk noise when lightly pressing bed down about an inch up and down before you hear the shock compress.(not sure if that is a normal sound or could be related to what I’m hearing) still heard after suspension tightened

dark video with engine running:

backing out of driveway rear end driver noise (phone is placed in bed front driver side closest to the cab) first clunk is wheels rolling off a rolling curb, second clang is during mid turn body flex (noise heard regardless of direction backing out)

tire video:
same scenario as video 2 aside from the fact it is filmed from outside of bed

sorry for the long read but I'm at my wits end, any feedback would be greatly appreciated ( I've scoured the internet and forums and haven't found a solution yet)

Recheck your rear upper sway bar link bolts.

If certain everything is good n tight take a look at the shock.

I have also read other post that had a similar sound and it was their driveshaft....

Hope this helps, please report back when you find out what the issue is.

Hello! I know it's been 6 months since you posted this thread...I have a 2023 Gladiator Willys and I'm dealing with the same clunk/clang noise when backing and its driving me crazy because every time I try to explain it to someone they look at me like I'm just a crazy woman and it only happens first thing in the am when I move my car for the first time. Were you able to find the solution to yours? Mine happens more in the front passengers side

I haven't had any luck pin pointing whats causing this yet, however I might be lifting my truck soon, I don't really care too much to keep the Fox shocks because I don't want to do a spacer lift, so when the time comes to lift etc, ill update back if the problem has resolved with new components.

This winter I have noticed it only does the noise once in a while, I figure it must be to the cold weather? I have just under 7k miles on the truck so it may also be broken in now? either way most of the suspension components will be going when lifted, so if that doesn't fix it maybe ill replace the drive shaft with something better then OEM and go from there, or maybe I am now just used to the Jeep noises haha

Did you have that noise post lift? Im going to lift mine soon, well that is if I don't buy a new mountain bike instead haha, shall see if the lift will get rid of the noise (which traditionally in my case lifts make all sorts of new noises from stock in the future ha)

YOLO, get both ?

To be honest with you, I had that noise prior to the lift and now I probably just hear it more noticeably whenever I park on an incline.

Ain’t nothing the blinker fluid can’t fix. I’ll try to record a video today. Cheers ?
