Great….? Greta Thunberg gets the diesel model.
Why? You get more HP and more torque with this engine than our gladiator diesel. To top it off, you also get lower fuel cost (gas vs diesel) and longer range. I don't get it. NO DEF fluid too and all it's quirks.

The gladiator will be the last of the breed in the US. Discounting low volume quirks like the grenadier, I would be surprised if any new models show up with the combo of dual solid axles, part time 4wd and conventional NA powertrains.

Everyone is chasing Toyota. If the new Taco is a hit and they gain back market share, everyone will copy or drop out. The Taco went from 60% market share to 40% as it started to age and everyone else brought out new midsize trucks. If it jumps back up towards 60% again, everyone will be forced to react.

Toyota was tops for a long time because they sold the gold standard mid-size truck. However the current field of competition is far more crowded than it once was. If we assume that a large majority of would be buyers lean more toward the lifestyle aspect than actually needing a truck, the options to cross shop include bronco, gladiator, ranger among others including Toyota's own landcruiser. The new model for better or worse will be distant relative of the rock solid older year models still running around on which the reputation of the tacoma was built.

I have no doubt the Tacoma will see success but I doubt it will stand out in the same way it once did.

I’m getting tired of everyone else releasing their 24’s. Can we just get the 24 gladiator out already ?
Nope…we need to wait for Stale-Lantus to fcuk up the options a bit more.

I desperately want a refreshed Gladiator…but I’m just not holding my breath for anything beyond new decals, a new grille…and some sort of amazing, god-sent, world-saving, electrification propulsion option.

And NO GATOR or ANVIL PAINT, either…because who cares what you guys want. Instead, have another Grey…or perhaps this very bespoke Silver.

This can be said about literally every truck on the market now, and the reason people have been saying "they just don't make them like they used to" for decades. It's a Chrysler Jeep now, not a Kaiser Jeep lol
