09 JKU Rubicon
I'm in the market for a Gladiator. Probably a Rubicon X just to have more of the options. I currently have an 09 JKU Wrangler Rubicon and love it but we're finding that our 2 dogs (Pyrenees and Bernadoodle) are somewhat squeezed in the back and the Doodle is still only a puppy. I can't drop the back seats down since I need room for a 3rd person from time to time, and the Pyrenees can get a little anxious and can cut a seat belt in twain in about 2 seconds so keeping the belts out of the way means the back seats are not people friendly. We're soon to be on our 3rd rear belt :( .

So I'm looking at a Gladiator with a bed topper to handle them and the people.

So my question is, What am I missing? I was looking around, thinking a '24 Rubicon would be available as a CPO at a discount (I just read that the big discounts to clear out the 2024 Rubi's just ended a few weeks ago.... timing). What I'm seeing now is interesting... It looks like I can buy a 2025, custom ordered in a color that the wife likes, for a less than the few '24s that I see out there. A dealer in Alaska wanted $59k for a CPO '24 Rubicon which is at or above what I'm seeing some dealers advertising online new 2025s for. the only difference in that was it had a 6sp manual, vs the 8sp auto. Isn't the auto a $$ upgrade in 24? In general when looking at 24 vs 25, I don't see any option differences, other than the 24s had 2 premium seat leather options and the 8sp auto upgrade. Everything else seems the same. I did see a nice 2024 Mojave with a $12k discount which is very tempting, but it has cloth seats and we'd like leather this time round for this truvk. I don't really need the lockers in the front so a Mojave would serve the purpose, but you know... Rubicon! Please share your thoughts since I'm new to the Gladiator market and reading everything I can to catch up and make a sensible buy.

Just weeks ago left over 24s were 20-25 % off sticker. Most inventory is gone. If you can find a good deal on a 25. Get that.

I was in a similar boat and just bit the bullet on the 25 vs trying to find something close to what I wanted. Bonus points I got to pick my color

Order it and get it just the way you want it. Most likely you will have the truck for the next five years. You get what you want and your done.

24 Gladiator Rubicon
I bought my 2024 Rubicon over a month ago and there were over 400 Rubicons available. When I entered my preferences into the cars.com search engine (color choice, heated seats, front camera and premium stereo) I was at about 50 vehicles. At that point I contacted dealers starting with the closest first (all out of state) and bought from the 3rd dealer contacted for a 34% discount off sticker price. At the time there were a few Rubicon X's available between 48 and 50K. Looking now, there are no 2024's that meet my search criteria with big discounts.

Keep in mind that they lowered the price for 2025 and don't charge extra for the automatic transmission so my 34% discount is in reality more like a 28% real world discount. Also, I am quite surprised that they are already discounting new, 2025 Rubicon X's for 10 to 11K.

Jeep does offer big discounts at times, in 2018 I bought a base Jeep Patriot for 12K plus tax and license - the sticker was 22K. They were discontinuing the model and blowing them out. I sold it to Carvana last year for 16K.

Room in back is NOT a reason to get a Gladiator. Now maybe a topper with the dogs in there would help considerably but would have its own issues. I have two big dogs.

You want room in back, get a Ram 1500, crew cab not anything bigger. They still have the 2012 Gen 2 cab on the 2500's/3500's. Ask me how I know all these things. You can get Ram 1500's new cheaper than Gladiators and if "power" is not an issue, the 3.6 Pentastar's in there are nice from my rental experiences along with much better mileage in the bigger truck. It's the tranny in them.

I used to rent them when traveling many times and hit 22 mpg easy on the highway with the 3.6. My gladiator doesn't know what a 2 looks like unless towing...let alone any other numbers after it. I promise people get in the back of a Gen 4 Ram 1500 and will say something positive about it... Not so much in a Gladiator. We won't even talk about Wranglers.

So, food for thought, all things considered.
