A 2023 truck with 8,000 miles that had a sticker price of $55,000 (didn’t pay that) is now worth $30,000 in trade after 9 months of ownership. I have seen trade in values at other dealers for $27,000.
The depreciation on these Gladiators has to be among the worst in the industry right now.

Welp. Here we go. The 20% off MSRP got me.

I am in the process of getting one of the last 2024 Rubicon X with a manual transmission in the country. When I started looking earlier in the month there were 40+ but as of this morning down to 6 and 3 are snazberry (couldn't do that). My dealer is working on a transfer from elsewhere on a red one that will hopefully be confirmed Mon/Tue.

Still don't have a really good reason other than right now I can afford it and may not be able to later.

Why I am interested in a 24:
- the power front seats
- the larger entertainment screen
I can't stand that giant screen, and the loss of the red bezel and old school retro-looking dash in my '23 would be enough for me NOT to make the move.

Still don't have a really good reason other than right now I can afford it and may not be able to later.
You are anticipating a loss of income or something? I would avoid pissing away $15k like the plague if I were uncertain as you sound.

I would pick Snazzberry over Red every day of the week. It is a really cool color at night and pops in the sun.

I also prefer the round vents but so be it. Indifferent on the screen. Under the covers of the build sheet there is a lot more on the 2024 than I have in my 2022 and the seats are much nicer for a middle aged / old dude like me.

Don't think I am losing my job. More of a life stage thing. I have a kid going to college in 6 years, won't have cash then to do it. My 2022 was the first new car I ever bought, this 2024 will very likely be the last new car I ever buy.

I was uncertain a few months ago when I first started the thread but not anymore after riding in 2024s. First world problems.

My daughter would have loved it. I just couldn't, not my style.

Traded a 2020 sport S for a 2024 Mohave X
The power seats are amazing as you now have option to lower the rear of the seat base. Eliminating the need for search slammers
The leather/deep bolster mojave seats are so much better than the cloth sport seats.
I often drive 3 hours cross state. The 2020 was okay but hour 2-3 there was a lot of squirming. Not now. Just an easy drive

I got the Mojave for off road (suspension/locker) but the day to day living with it is so much easier.

It cost about 33k to upgrade after taxes and Florida fun dealer fees when you account for the trade on my 80k sport

If I had kept the sport I think I would have spent 18k on upgrades. ( lift to support 35s , new shocks, originals were done) a rear locker , winch, new tires and rims, regarding etc)

The Mojave will support 35s no lift. I thought the 4.10s would support 35s not so sure now. But waiting for full break in before making a decision

Others have said the 33s are heavy and likely the 35s will be lighter so many run 35s on 4.10 I guess it should work out.

I love the off road maps in the Mojave. The forward trail cam I use a lot. Not just off road but parking also.

The 2020 had all the tech stuff and that hasn't changed. I still hate the blind spot warning so that is muted

I might have done better on trade if the 2020 wasn't as scratched up as I left it. But a month in I am happy with the upgrade

I went from a 2022 Mojave to a 2024 Mojave X…. Yes, a financial stupidity… but I wanted all the things the X had.

I too preferred the 2022 dash over the new one at first…. Now, the new dash looks and feels much better and I would not go back.

Maybe my mind playing tricks on me to justify the switch, but everything feels better on the new one… Steering, suspension, etc.

I fully expect I will be coming up with any and all excuses to make myself feel better next week when it arrives.

Most notably how comfortable the galdiator bed will feel to sleep in since my wife will have kicked me out of the house.

I did exactly what you are doing. Went from a 2020 to a 24. Both m/t trucks. No regrets.

Actually I got the color name wrong. It's the pinkish one called tuscadero. Still 2 out there if anyone wants one :)

The reddish snazberry I agree is a nice look.

Picked up my 2024 Rubicon X 6MT at 430pm ET today. It came from AZ to GA. Super excited. Love the seats. The handeling and shocks are noticeably firmer than the 2022. Here they are side by side. I didn't do a build thread on my last one but plan to for this one for my own benefit and to catalog what I took off the 2022 and do differently this time. I am a bit sad to say goodbye to my 2022 because I get attached to vehicles and it was a good rig, never had a single problem in 2 years and 25k miles, never did the clutch recall. Fingers crossed the 2024 is just a good.

Thanks @wachuko @ScottBeach @lppd45 @Troop @NULL POINTER for your first hand experience and thoughts.

Kind of thanks to all the nay sayers because I always appreciate other perspective...kind of.

I would love to trade mine for a '25 Mojave so I could get it in Mojito! and the big screen........but I'm to deep into my '23 JTM and some of the suspension mods are not reversible back to stock. Plus it will be paid off next month.......one less payment on the books.

Took my 2024 Rubicon X in at 5k miles after 5 months for its first service and reflected on the decision to turn in my 2022. In general, other than the money, still glad I made the change.

What I've found better:
  • the clutch for sure is a significnat improvement. better feel, better operation, no more stalling at low speeds and of course no apparent threat of fire though i never got an over heat or limp mode in my 2022.
  • the suspension is noticeably stiffer and a better ride. the 2022 Fox shocks definitely felt like floating by comparison this feels like a truck.
  • the stereo sound quality from the Alpine system is cleaner and louder
  • the larger infotainment screen is rather nice, mainly being able to split the screen and show stereo and nav at the same time
  • (update) Steering wheel warmer is a silly thing I never thought I would care about but it's really nice on a cold day
  • (update) the larger electric adjustable front seats are preferred by my wife. I didn't end up finding them much of a benefit over the manual ones but if she likes them it's a win.
What i've found not better:
  • FM/AM reception. i knew this was coming with the antenna embedded in the windshield but its still annoying. there were so many other ways they could have eliminated the whip antenna that would have been better solutions, but it wasn't really a problem that needed a solution.
  • interior finish. petty, and there are serveral threads on this but it bothers me that some of the stiching is red and some is black. i would have preferred it all be red but if not at least have it be consistent throughout the vehicle. also some of the trim on instrument cluster on the 2022 was silver / chrome and the 2024 is all black and just looks a little cheaper.
Issues i've encountered (not real issues by my standards):
  • the passenger front door leaked a little at the top in heavy rain. dealer repaired it under warranty and noted the seal definitely needed adjusting. so far so good with several hose tests.
  • the latest uconnect software seems a bit buggy compared to the old uconnect software. i've had a few times where the whole system resets and faily frequent resets on the nav only portion.
  • the passenger rear seat belt squeks. i had this problem on my 2022 and now believe it to be a standard feature from the factory. replaced 3 times on my 2022 under warranty and never resolved. on try number 1 with the 2024.

lastly, i still do get some odd enjoyment out of owning the only year the Rubicon X trim was available in a manual transmission :)
