I flew hundreds of them. Campbell, Korea, Alaska, Boeing plant...

Bambi bucket?

Those beasts can lift a lot! I won't say the max weight I ever flew one, but it was far, far over 50K! Ours had aerial refueling.I could watch the sun set then rise again without ever getting out of the seat...

Bambi buckets are the Orange buckets that gang below helicopter for water dropping missions on wildland fires.

I was a flight engineer for about 12 years! Now I work on them fighting wildfires. I was at Campbell, Hood, Honduras and Drum. And of course all the deployments. I definitely flew over 50K lbs. we picked up down chinooks, and up armored bulldozers weighing over 25k lbs. Nice to meet a fellow hooker on here!

We use an internal water tank and a snorkel setup (big black hose hanging off the left gunner window) to suck the water into the tank. Then it has a valve system that releases the water out the center cargo hook hole.
