Hello,

Searched the forum but couldn't exactly find my answer.

I picked up some OEM LED tail lights off a 2023 gladiator. I thought I read something regarding a resister needing to be used in some of the early years of the gladiator when swapping out the halogens taillights with the led's. I am also aware that a TAZR will be needed/recommended for this to be complete.

Is the resister still required for install?

Any issues from anyone doing this swap?

Thank you all in advance.

Unaware of a registry to utilize the LEDs, the only one that comes to mind is swapping from the smaller radio to the 8.4 to get Off road pages.

LED lights draw less current than halogen. When you change out a halogen light unit for an LED one, the JL/JT computer systems can sense it and will adjust the electrical circuit for the lights causing all sorts of errors/issues.

Sometimes LED light swaps will require either added in line resistors, or an alternate option is to change the vehicle settings so it either adjusts the computer to look for the LED resistance values, or stop monitoring the circuit completely.

In your case, if you're just changing from OEM halogen tail lights to OEM LED tail lights, you will need to just change the vehicle tail light settings from halogen to LED and you should be good, no extra resistors needed.

If we didn't have the option to reprogram the vehicle settings, we'd have to install resistors so that the LED light + resistor value equalled whatever the old halogen lights resistance was.

You can use a programmer such as JSCAN, Tazer, etc... to change the vehicle settings to LEDs to avoid using resistors. The programmer can be used for all sorts of things like changing wheel diameter size, gear ratio, any lights from halogen to LED and a bunch of other stuff.
