3rd brake light on with parking / head lights?

I googled to my heart’s content but no answers…. I noticed today jumping in the truck after dark that the third brake light in the tail gate wasn’t on while the rest of lights all were, still works when you depress the brakes but just curious if this is by design or if mine has failed somehow?

As far as i know it's only a brake light, not meant to be a tail or marker light.

Mystery solved! I don’t know why it looked so odd to me yesterday… maybe because of its placement as most trucks and suvs have them up on the cab, but since our trucks are gangster they had to come up with a different solution.
