From NW Louisiana to Silverton, CO to Moab and back in 10 days

I found myself between jobs with a two-week window and after being without power for three days because of storms I loaded up my wife and our dogs then headed off for some adventures. My rig is a 2022 EcoD Rubicon. I have added 3.5" Metalcloak lift with stock Fox shocks, Metalcloak full skids, ARB dual compressor, Mopar beadlock wheels (non beadlock position), 37" BFG KO2's, JCR rack, IKamper, and the normal supporting mods. Weather here in Oil City has been horrible so we went for low humidity and cooler temperatures.

I set my trip A when we left and used trip B for mileage

We didn’t make it out of town good before my wife lost a crown. These fine folks in Paris Tx worked us right in and fixed her up

We rolled right along until we hit mile mile marker 13 at TX NM line. I got a warning on dash about stability system and exhaust system. I posted about it in the EcoD section. I cleared codes with Tazer and we were back rolling.

We had planned to stay at the Frontier in Cuba NM but they were locked up when we rolled in. So we pushed on. Rolled into Silverton after around 16 hrs on road and set up at Red Mountain Resort. Woke up the next morning to much cooler temps!

Jim at Red Mt hooked us up with a room for base camp, helped us with trail selection and didn’t charge us for the overnight unannounced camp. Good people.

We hung around Silverton on first day to kick the no-sleep blues then hit Cinnamon the next day.

First night of trail camping was on Wager Gulch at the Carson Ghost Town. Ribeyes on the Blackstone for supper!

My inverter failed so it was off to Lake City for coffee then back to Silverton via Engineer, The Alpine Loop.
I love the cool old mines.

All in we ran Engineer, Cinnamon, Picayune & Placer, Eureka, Kendall Mt and Arrastra Gulch. We toured the mine and ate in Silverton at all the great shops before leaving for Moab.

Was gonna be clever and take Ophir Pass as a short cut to Moab but the snow plow stopped at the county line. Oh well, I got a pic of the sign and met a very cool couple from Ca. We met cool people the whole trip.
