8.4" Display Malfunction

Hello fam,
My radio has been malfunctioning recently. At first the display would lock and I couldn't change the radio station or adjust volume, nothing... Then the system would restart it's self and things would be fine. I turned the truck off after that and the next day the system wouldn't turn on at all. Then after about 60 seconds of driving it cycled back on. Strangely enough this wouldn't happen consistently and after a few weeks I had my iPhone plugged in and I started to hear static noise over the voices then the system shut down again and restarted it's self.

I've taken the truck in twice to my local Jeep Dealer and they said they can't duplicate the malfunction and there is nothing in the error codes... Any thoughts as to what couldn't be causing this. As I said, it's not consistent probably happens at least once a month but happened around 3 times so far.

UPDATE 3/12/21: Still having the same issue. Spoke to Jeep UConnect over the phone. They can’t help. He advised me to show up to the dealer when the issue happens. That’s almost impossible when I can’t tell when it’s going to happen and after a couple restarts it’s fine. Back at the dealership a 3rd time from the advice of Jeep UConnect over the phone. We will see... I was able to get a video of the issue this time though. I’ll try to post later when I can compress it the file is too large to upload at the moment.

My 5" is joke. Sometimes the delay lag is so bad it takes 5 seconds to turn on after I hit the button and sometimes I gotta hit the power button two or three times to get it to turn on.

Have you taken it in to get looked at? I just picked up my truck and they have no idea what it could be, which is frustrating.

I think I answered you in the other thread, but I had this exact problem for the last few months, and it was getting progressively worse.

They just straight up replaced my head unit, almost no questions asked.

Just read your reply on the other thread. This is even more frustrating because my dealership will not replace it. A tech advised I called Jeep and explain the situation to them and then they will contact the dealer with a replacement.

The service manager told me he'd seen this on a couple other vehicles and there was no point trying to chase down a root cause.

I went in with a pic of when my screen was 1/3 white. It was acting fine when I went in. I wanted them to document that it had happened. There are a couple of other wonky things that happen but they just ordered me a new unit. I think you should go to another dealer. The 8.4 are known problematic units I think.
