Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted yet. I'm completely new to Jeep and ordered a sting grey sport S today. I went in with the intention of having it built with the 7" screen and inquired about the premium audio when the sales guy said it comes with the 8.4" screen. I told him I didn't think that was available. I don't think it even shows up on the building feature of the website. He was shocked too and went to check. Apparently a week or two ago it was added to the Sport options. The 7" technology package was about $1,000 and to upgrade to the 8.4 with premium audio was $1700 more. I figured for the extra $1700 it was totally worth it since I plan on keeping the truck for awhile.

Anyhow, just wanted to make everyone aware that it is available on Sport builds now!

Good info. Thanks for posting. I have an 8.4 " screen and the other day I was in a Gladiator that had the 7" screen. It really is a big difference. I was quite surprised.

I ordered a max tow Sport on 10/24. The dealer was going down the order and casually asked if I wanted the 8.4 screen. I was like heck yeah. It really is only $400 more than the 7 screen. The premium audio is 1295. The premium audio with 8.4 is 1695.

i was really expecting to get a call later saying that they couldnt add it. I have a Vin and the estimated ship date was yesterday so it seems that it will be in the jeep.

Pretty excited that I could get it. I’m building it up and that gives me about 5k to work with compared to a Rubicon plus 4k in discounts. Thanks to Kim and Terry at Superior Jeep in Conway for taking the time to be thorough in the ordering process as well as a great price.

Oh yeah I could have ordered factory leather also. They had a perforated option and a stitched option. I just didn’t want black leather on a convertible. I think the cost was 1699 but not completely sure.

Yeah, my dealer gave me that option, too - he said not much price different from factory in the other Jeeps. But it wasn't factory.
Now I wish I would have waited to order because one of the big reasons to go Overland was the screen........ with my eyes and age and knowing how they are in other Jeeps, my wife pretty much said nothing less than that big screen. Bummer - could have had Sport S with max tow AND the big screen. Why do they do that to us??
To me it was like - gee, I'm going to be towing and using the thing for other than grocery getting - going to be driving some miles at times and I wanted the bigger screen. Sort of crazy to not have offered that right away.

They constantly evolve the option packs. For example that might torque you a little more.
That big screen is now discounted with other parts....

Well it was the best decision based on information at that time. A wise college professor once said - you shop around on Friday, go to 10 different shoe stores and finally settle on what seems to be the best for you, and the best price you could find. Then Monday the same shoes go on sale - did you make a mistake? No, you based your choice on information and conditions at that time. Not a mistake.
So I'll just have to keep in mind what that guy said - a choice made on the best available options/information at that time. I could have waited - and prices gone up, options dropped, and this change never happened.
Irritating - but what do you do?
I'll make what I get my own, the best I can for the money and time I have. I can always make minor mods here and there.
