I am looking to upgrade to the 8.4" from the 7". It is so confusing on which part number to use. In reading various threads, YouTube, etc - I can't seem be comfortable on the number. This is for a 2021 Gladiator V6. I know the 2020's have a backup camera issue. The other question is do I need the security code for the install or not? Thanks in advance.

You will need a security code pin. If buying new, it should come with it. If buying a used pull, you can obtain from the dealers that may or may not charge you. Some dealers get stupid sometimes on such things and will not do it.

There is online services that will get you the pin with a provided part number and serial number from the radio for roughly $20. There is also some ebay listings that will offer the service with a picture of the radio label sent to them and usually is like $10 or less. I used one of the Ebay listing service sellers and had no issue and suspect it is a dealership tech doing the Ebay thing as a side hustle using the dealership resources.

Cannot help you with the part number question.

UPDATE: I went with the 68472596AJ and worked without an issue.. It was a 20 min install. Took about 3 hours for the system to sync with the Jeep so I could see Sirius, and the other functions to operate correctly (I was worried when the temp controls didn't operate or volume)
With the Taser I got the off-road and travel-link apps to work.
