Ok gang I installed the Mopar A-pillar/cowl platform and installed a set of zroadz LED cubes I had on my F150.

Now for something completely different..
I need the electrical experts opinions out there. I have the harness that was made for the light. What part do I eliminate to utilize the Jeeps Aux switch package?

I haven’t hooked any wiring up yet. I don’t want to melt anything.

I have the same wiring harness for the lights I'm getting ready to install. The Aux switch wire should go to one of the three that was connected to the switch. It will energize the relay and turn the lights on. The other two turn on the light in the switch and can be capped. I haven't traced it out with a meter, yet, so I'm not sure which one. I'll post back after I figure it out.

Thanks Bill,
I’ve managed to lose the switch somehow. It was all in the box when I removed from the Ford but alas.
I’ll wait and see what you find out.
Thanks

So there is a good question.. Our aux switches don't have a relay right. So we have to keep the relay ?

If the connected devices draw less than the Aux switch is rated for, then a relay is not necessary. With the pre-made harness, it's just easier to wire the relay trigger to the Aux switch. If you add an auxiliary battery, which I'm planning, you can run the lights off that battery using the relay setup with the Aux switch.

Awesome thanks. I just wired it in and turned the switch to on and tucked it in. I plan to go cut that entire part out and just run them direct now. I didn't realize there was a relay already inline.

The relay I'm referring to is in the pre-made harness like the OP has. The lights can be wired directly to the Aux switch, as long as their draw is not more than the Aux switch is rated to provide. The ratings for switches 1 and 2 are different than switches 3 and 4. Using a relay setup, like that in the pre-made harness, can allow the lights to be controlled by the Aux switch but powered from an auxiliary battery.

My original plan was to do just that, attach the negative and connect the positive to the Aux switch and leave the inline switch turned on in the engine compartment. Since I plan to put in an auxiliary battery for the lights and winch, I'm going to change the way it is wired.

I went and found it, since I also need to know. It's in the manual around page 145.
Aux switch 1 and 2 are each protected by a 40 amp fuse, and Aux switch 3 and 4 are each protected by a 15 amp fuse. As long as what is connected pulls less than that amount, it can be wired directly to the switch. If it pulls more than that, it will need a relay setup triggered by the switch.

Awesome find Bill.
Thanks for your sleuthing. If it doesn’t pour outside today I’ll be hooking her up.
Curious if that is in the manual that came with our trucks or the one you have to send for? I need to dig them out.
Cheers mate.

I'm hacking mine up this weekend. I installed a light bar and 2 pillar spots. So 2 large harnesses all wrapped up and zipped up tucked between the battery and the side. Needless to say it's too much for that spot. Will be be much cleaner after I chop off the relay and switch sections.

Thanks to Mr Bill for helping me understand
the little nuances of these electrical harnesses I’ve the lites...lit! I did take apart the harness and did a direct connect + lite to aux wire & - to frame.
Thanks Bill!

Cheers
