Is it possible to add aftermarket (viper, drone, etc) phone control to my factory remote start? I have the 7 inch radio now. I don’t really want to have a full aftermarket remote starter installed because I don’t want another huge key fob.

That all depends on the model of aftermarket remote start. If you add aftermarket, the Jeep won't care, or do anything new itself, because the aftermarket unit will then be the brains of it all. You'd be switching over at that point. If you buy a Viper remote start with phone capability, you'd then be using the Viper for the remote start, not the factory one. They don't exactly integrate with each other, the Viper is an add-on.

There's no "aftermarket" that provides OEM functionality. That's why it's "after" market. Especially with subscription-based options like this.

Getting the OEM remote start to work through the phone app requires additional OEM equipment, specifically stuff that came with the 8.4" screen, along with the subscription and cell service. There's many hurdles to this if you didn't get the Jeep with this package originally.

So what you could do is add a Viper remote start on top of the OEM remote start, and then use the Viper app to do what you want. You could retain the factory remote start for the keyfob (so you aren't carrying a new one). But then it's all independent of the rest of the Jeep systems, which it sounds like you don't want, and you've essentially got 2 remote starts installed.

Unless you have the option to sign up for SiriusXM Guardian, which requires some factory installed components, there is no way to add phone control to the factory remote start. Jeep does not support or allow it to be dealer installed.
