Hey everyone,
I’ve got a 2024 Gladiator Sport S without the LED package, so my fender “DRL” area is just a blank lens with a small halogen side marker. I’m running Diode Dynamics Elite Max headlights (with amber halo DRLs and turn signals) and want to add matching amber DRLs behind that fender lens area so it looks like the LED package, but stays amber to match my halos.
Here’s what I’m planning:
Using Diode Dynamics HD LED Semi-Flex Switchback Strips (6"), mounted behind the fender DRL lens.
Wiring the amber wire to my Elite Max halo DRL positive (red/yellow) so it turns on/off with the halos.
Also tying in the turn signal wire (yellow from the headlight) with a pair of 1N5408 diodes so the strip flashes amber when signaling, then goes back to steady amber.
Grounding the strip to a fender bolt and adding a small inline fuse.
Not using the white wire on the strip since my halos already handle the white DRL function.
Basically trying to mimic OEM LED DRLs but keep the amber look and full sync with my Diode Dynamics headlights.
Has anyone done something similar or tucked a strip behind the non-LED fender lens before? Wondering if the 6-inch strip fits cleanly behind there or if it’s a pain to mount and wire.
Appreciate any tips or photos if someone’s tackled this already!
