Is this a thing that can be added aftermarket? I found a video for a Jeep JK (https://www.youtube\.com/watch?v=uIQBCjCsBN40) but haven't been able to find any post or information anywhere about this being available on a 2024 gladiator. Seems like if I can add aftermarket blind spot this should be available too.

That vid was for auto HEADLIGHTS, not high beams

Turning on when dark and off when light is easy compared to auto dimming high beams when an oncoming vehicle approaches.

I don’t know all the systems involved, but almost certainly the camera is used and the computer does an analysis to differentiate between cars and road sign reflections.

I would imagine much more involved than auto headlights. Or even, “is there an object in my blind spot”

Ah, i see. I didn't watch the whole video, just a few moments of it I skipped through and saw. Regardless, seems trivial for the companies that make this to combine the necessary components to sell it as a kit and a programmer to enable it. I

Automatic high beams are quicky at best. My XC90 has them and they never work the way I desire so I just used them the old school way

I had it on my f150 I traded in and my wife’s vehicle has it. It’s one of the things I miss about my old vehicle as I found a lot of value in it, but I also acknowledge it might be even worse than it is on the fords and therefore not be worth it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I agree with you Yock. I have auto high beams on my F150 and they work awesome. Very useful on a busy 2 lane road during deer season.

I don't have them on my Gladiator, but wish I did.

Do you have Adaptive Cruise control? If you already have adaptive cruise control it is a simple setting to change via Jscan.

My 2024 Rubicon came with adaptive cruise control but not auto high/low beams. I enabled it through Jscan it was easy peasy. Hardest part was getting to the adapter to bypass the firewall.

If you don't already have the adaptive cruise control then it it harder since you need to forward facing camera.

Yeah, I have ACC, but you didn’t need to buy a new dial on the dash to enable it? Just flash it with the JSCAN? Could the tazer do that, is the jscan essentially the same thing anyway?

Yup just flash it with Jscan (or something else), nothing else needed to make it happen, it works great! You can probably also do this with tazer, I used jscan because it was cheaper and I really didn't need a tazer, jscan could do everything i wanted. This is what i did:

My 2024 Rubicon came standard with Adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning, this means everything is there for automatic high beam dimming, it just isn't enabled. Without the active safety group you do not get it (same with Mojave). I enabled it yesterday using JScan and it works great. I live in a very rural area had to drive a bit to find traffic to test it with haha. You can enable this using other methods but I used the JScan software on my phone, you also need a bluetooth adapter for your ODBII port and a gateway by pass cable. Less than 60 dollars total. I also changed a few other settings while in there. Here is the step by step from JScan's Facebook page:

Go to Adaptations and open group "Auto Headlamp & Auto High Beam"

Auto High Beam -> Activated it will activate this option

Auto High Beam Module Location -> Select IRCM - this tells ecu where the module is installed

Auto High Beam On Threshold -> 25 km/h - this is default on some cars, on others it is 0 and in booth cases it should work.

Auto High Beam Off Threshold -> 20 km/h - this is default on some cars, on others it is 0 and in booth cases it should work.

Auto High Beam CSM Present-> Activated Radio settings screen under "Lights", adds the menu selection so you can turn it on or off

You do need to have the camera that comes with adaptive cruise control and forward collision to make this work.

Nice! I’ll buy one today then! So I just need the device itself and the firewall bypass harness?

Jscan is just a software download to your phone, I have an Android device.

https://jscan.net/

Then you need a bluetooth ODBII adapter, if you go to the Jscan site they have ones they tested and recommend. I had one at the house from my F150 and it worked fine so I didn't need to purchase one. Mine was just a generic one and it worked fine.

You need the bypass cable to actually make changes to the Jeep, the jscan site has information and links for this, the run about 15$. Jeep cars 2017-2018+ will require bypass security gateway to allow any vehicle modifications. “Autel Chrysler 12+8 adapter"

This is the one I ordered:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C1YGJ96S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

You might want to order the Bypass extension, getting the connectors off to run the bypass cable is the hardest part, the extension allows you to plug it back in under the dash so it is easy to get to the next time you want to connect the ODBii adapter and make changes. This is optional and just to make life easier in the future. I bought it after disconnecting the cables the first time lol:

BTW the auto high/low beams on my jeep work great! I was very happy with the way they perform, no issues at all.

While in there with Jscan I also allowed the fog lights to stay on with the high beams, they don't automatically go off now on high beams, I like the extra light even on high beams.

Thank you for listing your purchases. I bought this Bluetooth scanner to go with it:

Based on this list here:

(mostly posting this for documentation in case someone else runs across this thread. When I get it to work I'll update the OP.)
