The 8.4“ has the alpine premium system and yes different amp and sub.
my ‘23 Sport S has the 8.4, and the sub. But I don’t see any Alpine logos on any speaker grills.

I typically upgrade all speakers from stock in my new vehicles, but I’m a bit confused about what the Alpine “premium” system really changes from the base system? As far as each speaker location. Or is it just the head unit and the amp/sub?

I’m pretty sure if you have the sub it’s the alpine premium. My speaker grills do not have alpine logos either. My 3500 ram has the same 8.4 premium too and it’s grills do have the alpine logos. I’m sure your window sticker will tell you or there is a web site that you put you vin in and tells you everything you have.

The Alpine Premium Sound System is the added Sub and a separate amp to drive everything. There are no Alpine logos on anything that I found. I have a '20 Overland with the 8.4 and Alpine Premium.

I think the best and easiest upgrade is the Terra Acoustics speakers for the front corners of the dash. My next change will be putting the 3" Kenwoods I bought for the dash in the soundbar. I don't see much point in anything beyond that.

I would like to hear from anyone that has done the jl/jt pods with the 6.5” components in the soundbar with the alpine system. I know it’s been done but have not heard what the results were.

Yes, there's no amp with the base system they are just powered off the head unit in my research. The alpine system has a 12 channel amp 1 channel each for the 8 speakers and 4 channels for the subwoofer. All are 2 ohm in my research including each of the 4 voice coils on the sub.
I paid for an Alpine Premium system and there is a sub in the back and a 7" display. My build sheet shows Alpine Premium with 7" display and I personally measured all the 3.5" speakers at 4 ohms.

I've never seen an alpine system that didn't have the 8.4" head unit, so I have no idea what's installed in yours.

Weird as this wasn't an option in the JLU, and that's where all of my research has been (2019 and 2022 JLURs before I picked up my 2023 mojave). The speakers with the 8.4" typically measured 2.7 ohms static. Makes me wonder if they don't upgrade the speakers when they upgrade the 7" and simply add the amp and sub? If it's the same amp I'd imagine it would be underwhelming driving 4 ohm speakers?

In '21 the amp with subwoofer could be ordered along with the 7" display.
And my JT Mojave was ordered in March, 2021.

The basic systems I've seen on this form show a different 3.5" speaker between the basic and Alpine Premium system I have, not counting head size. If the head and tuner/amp are separate why would they change speakers when changing head size? I believe the Alpine components are the tuner/amp and speakers and somebody else makes the head.
