So, I realize this is not specific to Jeep or Uconnect but I am having a hard time finding a decent music player for Android Auto. I have tried Google Music, Plex and Tidal.

Most of my issues seem to stem from limitations placed by google....which appear to be due to "safety" concerns...i.e I can't see all my playlists....I can't browse Artist, Album, etc.

I have a music collection (FLACs and MP3s) on a media server (Plex) at home....~8000 songs.

I actually uploaded my collection to Google Music....but then I am hit with limitations in AA...i,e I can't select artist....seems I can only select from a limited list of Playlists. I actually wrote a script to create a playlist for each artist thinking that would work...but i guess there is a limit on playlists in AA....cause I only see the first 10 or so. I tried creating a single giant playlist but again...there seems to be a limit on songs.

The Plex and Tidal apps for AA is the worst...pure garbage....It wont show anything unless I already have the Plex app launched on the phone before plugging into Uconnect and even then it does not show everything or allow for browsing anything but a limited # of playlists.

Using voice for AA in the JT seems to be a crap shoot...most of the time it just doesnt work or misinterprets what I asked...

Any solutions? I am willing to install another server on my server at home if it helps....just need a client APP for AA that lets me access how I need.

For now....I have given up on AA and just use the phone via bluetooth....both Plex and Google Music work fine that way....which ironically defeats the whole intent of what I think the limitations are for =P

Thus far AA has been a major disappointment. Wonder if Carplay is any better....thou no way I would switch to Iphone.

The only issue I have ran into CarPlay and the music player is that when you are driving down the road features are limited. Only when stopped or parked does the full car play open up. Is CarPlay perfect... hell no but it’s not bad.

I use Spotify. I have several play lists that I set up on my phone that I can see in AA. I can also see recently played grnres. This onky works if if I'm connected via cable, not Bluetooth.

I bought a tiny 128 gig stick, plugged it into the usb inside my console. It's small enough to hold all my music and it is USB2 as the source. I can browse and play all my music. I haven't tried to make playlists yet and I listen to music that usually isn't on the radio anyway. Death/Thrash metal.

I switched to Spotify from Amazon Music because I got a duo account for the same price as a single Amazon - my sweetie has her own preferences and got to dump Apple Music. I've had NO problem using Bluetooth to access my stations by voice command. I think AA works better than Car Play, we have a weird deal where voice directions from an iPhone don't play over the speakers, even on Apple Maps (which still isn't as good as Google).

I set the Tazer to allow the keyboard to work for navigation while in motion, so whoever is a passenger can use the UConnect Nav feature, but I don't recollect the Tazer having any CP or AA options.

I am using Apple Music. And I also do not like the limits of songs. But it seems Apple Music brings users more limits. So I decide to use an Apple Music converter(TunesKit Audio Converter) to remove all the limitations by converting Apple Music to MP3. Then I play Apple Music songs with a USB in the car.

I decided to skip AA altogether and picked up a IA JL3001 and run plex straight off the headunit.

Its not for everyone but might be up your ally. I just use VLC for audio atm but the entire android library would be open to you and AA nanny features removed. Ps. I know old thread.

I'm using Spotify, the popular streaming music service. It works well with Android Auto. But as for me, I didn't use Android Auto to play music in the car but connect Spotify music via the USB port after I have used Spotify Converter to transfer Spotify music and playlists to MP3, FLAC, and other audio files and save them to my USB flash drive.

Try spotify instead of your player model can't read google play music. Download the songs so you won't need to access your internet while on the road.
