Anyone have luck returning this thing?

I was able to submit a return request with the directions on the rugged ridge website (I purchased from them). Took a couple days to get the authorization. Packed it up the best I could with the original boxes I had kept. It was a free return through FedEx, full refund.

Folded up the back of the top today. Took an extra two minutes maybe. Been great so far, will have it in the highway in a couple of hours this way too, so I’ll report back.

Highway was great. No extra flapping or noises or anything. Everything stayed put. I don’t think I would do any highway driving without the straps around the whole thing though.
mom the way home I closedboth halves of the top and left the back window and pillars out. I’ve now driven on the highway with every possible configuration the top can do and am totally satisfied with this.
I just wish they would do something about the design of the clasps that hold the front down. That part of this is a very bad design.

I'm getting the exact same thing. That combined with a ton of wind noise that seems to be getting in under the front seal, which is not tight despite the clasps being adjusted as tight as they go, makes this thing unbearable on the highway. It's more than twice as loud with the top closed as it is when open. The wind noise kicks in around 40-45 mph, drumming starts around 60-65. Wind noise seems to be the result of the metal header not being shaped correctly, you can see in the picture the seal is tight at the corners put pops up in the middle. Also from a poor fit above the front doors. The drumming comes from the where the top is attached to the roll bar. I really like everything else about this top, looks good, easy to flip open on the fly, has a huge back window, which can be folded into the top without completely unzipping it, which is a really nice feature (see pics). Also it isn't very hard to completely remove the top and store in the bed (pic), just have to remove the 4 small screws. However because of the noise I will most likely be returning, thinking of checking out the Suntop. Anyone know what the return window is?

The other day, in high cross/head winds, I saw daylight across the whole front.

Went with the back window unzipped but still attached and folded up under the top configuration today. Don’t think I would go on the highway with this, I’m not sure the pillars would stay in, but for a quick ride in the neighborhood I’m digging it.

I finally got my Rugged Ridge installed. Here are a few pics for anybody thinking about this top.

Overall I like it and it seems to be made well. You can very easily flip the front open and closed from drivers seat which is a nice feature. Although they say the top is not meant to be fully open, it can be opened up completely and it works well.

To fully open the top, I remove the back corner pieces, flip the back window up into its pocket, fold the top back (with rear window inside) up over the sound bar, flip the front back over the sound bar and folded top back, then put one strap around the whole thing. It only takes a couple minutes, looks good in my opinion, and I've had no issues running it fully open down the highway.

It is a bit noisy, but you can still carry on a conversation with the top up or down, and so far so good with keeping the water out when it's all closed up.

Note: The instructions are crap and I called rugged ridge over one minor issue, but they were zero help. Also you absolutely need to do it on a warm sunny day with the fabric sitting in the hot sun while you assemble the brackets. Even after that it will need a couple days in the sun to fully stretch.

I agree about the help. I can't go over 60 without getting a loud drumming hum from the top. They referred me to #28 but all it says is to check the gap but doesn't tell you what to adjust if there is a gap. Well I've tighten the clamp to the point I have to pull the top down to get the clamp over the bar and nothing I've done has gotten rid of the hum except me pushing my right hand up into the middle of the top.

While it’s something you shouldn’t have to do, try a piece of Camper Seal Foam Tape applied to the top (not the gladiator). That may be enough to solve the noise.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have the straps that go around the sound bar cinched down nice and tight?

I think so, what direction does it go around, maybe I went the wrong way.

I have the straps coming from the back, under the sound bar and then hooking on the metal brackets on top front to sound bar.

Also make sure the top velcro wraps are snug where they wrap around a cross bar at the back of the mesh pockets.
