I’m in the process of building a cargo trailer conversion for “overlanding”. It’s too big to get through the Rubicon but I‘ve managed to get this thing relatively remote without any issues. It started out as a 6x12 cargo with a few bells and whistles and has mostly been upgraded in the interior. It’s to a point where we can boondock for about 3 days but am dialing in a few things. Upgrades planned: larger battery capacity, better cooking facilities and window coverings. Here are a few pics. Anyone else thinking of doing this? It’s been a fun process so far.

Pretty nice build. I feel I need something smaller. RTT smaller trailer footprint maybe. All outside cooking. Awning, fridge/freezer on a slide. Maybe 30 gal. of fresh water. Plus shower. Similar to a turtleback or off grid trailer. But my tent idea is a whole different set up. Want to keep it under 2200 lbs. fully loaded this way I can keep the timbren axle less suspension with the same bolt pattern as the Gladiator. Less spares to carry.

I personally like the smaller trailers with the RTT setup but the mrs. ain’t having it. My set up is a max 3500lbs. Good call on the bolt pattern. I need to check the trailer. I think is a a 5lug but not sure of the spacing. That would be an unexpected win if it was the same size at the Gladiator.

5 on 5 plus no axle to hang up on. Running on 35s. Still in the design process. Gonna fab it all myself after the sheet metal shop forms it all.

Ya those Colorado trailers are a nice base. What did you do for water tankage? We think a like with the tool box self/prefab storage. I did your counters. You do them or buy?

I built a 5 gallon water cooler system. An empty bottle for gray water and a full tank with a hand pump for supply. Very simple.

counter are off the shelf butcher block countertops .
