I have had this issue happen 2 times this past week. I also had my transmission replaced under warranty approximately 5,000 miles ago.

The first time I came to a stop at a stop light and my engine reved. It did it for a second. I put the truck in park. Turned it off and then restarted the truck. Everything was fine.

Then tonight I was pulling into a parking space at the grocery store and before I came to a stop the engine reved, traction control light came one and I squealed tires in the parking lot. I kept my foot on the brake and I don’t even know what I did to stop it. I was freaking out. It was like the truck had a mind of its own. I turned the truck off went into the grocery store and did not have an issue on my way home.

Question 1 is has anyone had this issue. I am out of factory warranty. I have an extended max care warranty. BUT we all know how that goes. The chances of the tech being able to replicate the problem are low. So, my 2nd question is what do I do?

thank you in advance.

The answer is - take it back. Very possible they screwed up a wiring harness or something else. Doesn't matter if they can replicate it IF you have DETAILS, like the RPM, engine cold or warmed up, etc. And if the MIL comes on, be sure to grab a code and get more details.
If you can give them enough information they can visualize it happening in their mind exactly as it happened to you, a good tech can possibly figure it out.
But the fact that truck had major surgery a while back means there could be human actions involved in the cause of this.

In my "hanging outs", i've never read or heard of this sort of thing happened to a JT or a JL/JLU. I'm the sort if I saw someone talking of this - I would want to know more and read the posts.

Now - additional questions - do you have any pedal commander or similar? A tazer (not that it would do that, but if a tazer is there it does have the ability to increase idle speed for winching - doubtful but hey - look at simple things YOU can look into)
Look at all wiring harnesses - make sure none are burned or chaffed or otherwise damaged.
These are electric throttles, so bad wiring (or bad throttle body) could tell the PCM hey, he wants more engine! (there have been throttle body issues)

I have never done a pedal commander or taser. What is a MIL? I will check underneath for any wiring issues. I had video of my tachometer jumping when I was having my transmission issues. I was told by my service department that unless they could replicate the issue the video wasn’t helpful. It was good enough for the techs but not good enough for corporate to approve the work. I took it to autozone to see if there were any codes and nothing came up but my check engine light never came on. Autozone said that their reader wouldn’t get a code unless the check engine light came on. They said that of what I described happened then a dealership scan should catch the code with the manufacturer software. I’m gathering all my info and I will call the dealership that replaced the transmission Monday. Thank you and if any thing else comes to mind please reply back.
