#AWEintheWild: the Adventures of the AWEJT

Welcome to the dedicated thread for all things AWEJT -- documenting the adventures it will take on over the course of the year. We’ll be sharing images, videos, and experiences from the trips we’ll be attending in ‘21. Feel free to visit often, stay as long as you’d like, ask any questions you may have, and share an image of your own rig!

Bit of backstory:

We built the AWEJT during the time leading up to the release of the AWE Exhaust Lines for the JT, JL, and JK. For an organization with a deep-rooted precision engineering background and die-hard love for performance, we had an immeasurable level of excitement to get the JT into the dirt in proper form. Once development for the JT Exhaust Suite was finished, we moved on to the other areas of the truck that were in much need of attention.

We turned to various other radical brands such as ARB, Falken, Fuel, G2, Metal Cloak, Rigid, S&B Filters, sPOD, Superchips, DV8, and Warn to equip the JT with its remaining needs (full detailed list with links below).

Fast forward a couple of weeks and it’s time to take the JT out on its first adventure with its new figure (almost -- unfortunately all of our parts didn’t make it in time, but enough of them did). We decided to go to Rausch Creek in Pine Grove, PA to film the launch video for the exhaust line and to give the JT a proper shake down.

What a park, and to top it off, it had just snowed. Completely unplanned for, but completely welcomed. It made for an epic atmosphere for the launch video, and off we ripped with our friends from Busted Knuckle Garage.

Dressed up with somewhere to go!

@Dave/AWE snapped some shots of the AWEJT right before it was loaded onto transport to head to Texas for its first show appearance--Keystone's BIG Show! If you're attending this weekend, stop by the AWE booth and say hello, and see the JT "in the flesh."

18 days clean as the AWEJT hung out at Keystone after their BIG SHOW earlier in March.

Our Sales Director broke it out of hiding to visit dealers around Texas this week, and thankfully it rained and provided some filth so it wasn't arriving too clean as that makes some folks uncomfortable (us being some of those folk).

Another day of TX, then the journey to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari begins -- starting with Colorado.

We'll be in Moab for all of EJS, followed by a road trip from Moab to AWE HQ in Horsham, PA.

If you're attending EJS, chime in. We can meet facemask to facemask!

If you've driven from Moab to PA ( by some slim chance) send ideas of rad places the AWEJT should go!

Colorado Saturday, Moab Sunday.

The AWEJT picked up a member of our crew while trekking through Colorado, and made it to Moab! Sunday was spent with the crews from Warn, Skyjacker, and ARB as we ate up the Copper Ridge Trail. The AWE Trail Edition Catback Exhaust is right at home.

The crew at DV8 heard the AWEJT and wanted a dose of T304L stainless steel for their own JT. We made it happen. . . on the side of the road. Sawzaw, removal, installation, and modification of the factory rear hanger to accommodate the DV8 rear bumper drawer. Perfect fitment, perfect sound

We took to Hell's Revenge with the two best-sounding JTs in Moab (along with 40 other Rigs) to absolutely demolish the hinges off of Hell's Gate (see the image of AWEJT stradling the V-ditch of the 45-degree incline below)

With EJS winding down, the AWEJT will set off for its journey back east. With that comes many stops along the way.

Love it! Looks fantastic, and doesn’t take up “much” room in the bed. We have a Power Tank mounted below the rear window, next to the tire carrier. Keeps it tidy back ‘ere.

Moab dreamin'.

Digging through the boatload of content captured from EJS and the roadtrip home, I felt the urge to show some love for the AWE Trail Edition-equipped Project X JKU before the reel becomes oh-so packed with AWEJT epicness .

It was great to have a JKU out in the dirt with a Trail Edition equipped so everyone could hear/witness its engineered soundtrack and ground clearance while overcoming the obstacles of Fins 'n' Things in proper "Wrangler form." Their livery was also one of my favorites from my time out in the desert.

Fins 'n' Things.

The AWEJT met up with the crews from SEMA TORA, PSC Performance Steering, Go Rhino, Project X (shown above), and the Shop Mag to trek Fin 'n' Things. A smaller group meant a faster flow over the rolling hills, and I don't think the Wildpeak M/Ts even winced. It was a good precursor for what was come: Hell's Revenge [and Hell's Gate]

Conquering Hell.

The AWEJT and the DV8JT, freshly equipped with their roadside-installed Trail Edition Exhaust from earlier in the week (refer to post #15), took on Hell's Revenge in good company (one being a JK hosting an LS in its bay). DV8 hosted the ride, and together we led the pack through most of the obstacles on the trail. The AWEJT was the first to take on Hell's Gate with impressive precision, eating its way through the Tub and Tip-Over challenge with finesse later on in the day.

Livin' the dream.

It's been a hectic, packed couple of months! We launched a radical line for the RAM TRX (for those who also think trucks packing HEMI muscle are cool). I may be alone here, but I love running into Raptors and other brawny trucks while in the AWEJT because the driver's "size up" reaction is always fun.

When the TRX came around, I couldn't wait to get 'em next to each other. We lined 'em up at Turn14's C&C and the crowd loved 'em.

Turn 14 also hosted their annual car meet at their distribution center in Hatfield, and the AWEJT was the only one of its kind on the scene.

Amongst it all, our friends from Quadtratec came by to get an exhaust installed on their 2.0T JLU (with sneak peeks of the JT in Moab)...

... and Tara, aka @viragojeep_jku, came by HQ to see firsthand how everything comes together.

The AWEJT continues to be one of the best daily drivers we've built, it seems to end up making its way to any show we attend this year. If you see us in the wild, say hey!

After 30 years of precision engineering for some of the finest performance vehicles on the planet, it was time for AWE to hit the dirt.

It was time to make AWE a Jeep thing. Within a few short weeks, we had to build the ultimate Jeep to test the ultimate exhaust suite.

With collaboration from some of the best partnering brands in the industry, the AWEJT was built in-house and immediately put to the test during its debut at Easter Jeep Safari.
