Man, I really like this little truck, but I'm getting damn tired of these trips. The start/stop that most could live without has stopped working again, it's a new truck, so it needs to function.

Now I'm hearing a rattle from engine area that turns out to be a snapped weld on the catalytic converter bracket. I could tig weld or two bolts and the remainder of the bracket is off, seems to have plenty of support anyway.

The rap sheet is going to be so long, even the Jeep dealership will not want to trade.

I had mine in for a universal bushing that fell out. I had it for about six months at the time. They had to replace the left axel, it was under warranty. I don't four wheel it at all just normal street driving. The battery died due to working from home and not driving it enough was able to jump it and get it started, but the Auxiliary ESS battery totally died. They got the warning light to go away but now the ESS won't work. I have a feeling they didn't replace both the main battery and the ESS battery which I've read on the forums will cause this issue so it's back at the shop again. This time the service writer tried to blame my after market lights for the issue even before they took it in to check it out. I have an SPOD which doesn't touch the wiring it only gets wired to the main battery. It does have a slight draw which is by design. I can pull the 2 amp fuse when it's not in use. The bigger issue is why did the ESS die after discharging the battery? most batteries will take a charge not just die. It's weird that you would have to replace both batteries after this happens, seems like a design flaw. Since Jeep doesn't want to back their product warranty is one reason I'm suspect about purchasing an extended warranty since they try to weasel out of fixing warranty issues any way they can, so what good is it? Just a waste of money. If they won't fix it under warranty I'll buy a genesis two battery system that has two full sized batteries that fit's in the same spot as the original. My vehicle just turned one year old, love it but it's been kind of high maintenance.

They have to prove both batteries are actually bad. Replacing one and not the other isn't necessarily an issue. (not everything on a forum is a fact)
Hopefully they had the IBS totally disconnected to reset it when the AUX battery was replaced.

Actually they can simply die and not take a charge.

AGM batteries need a different charging method and voltage - so if charging with a standard charger it may not be charging them correctly. And always charge at the top of the IBS, not directly to the negative crank battery terminal.

They should have confirmed it wasn’t functional before giving the vehicle back to me. I looked at it the next day & it wasn’t functional. I’ve never had a vehicle where the battery would just die & no longer take a charge especially in a new vehicle. Batteries wear out but not in a year old vehicle. Then to blame my lights because they are aftermarket so they won’t have to cover it under warranty is lame. You’ll find multiple complaints about the same issue with Jeeps with the ESS system.

If I wasn't leasing I'd invest in Genesis' dual battery kit here. It prevents your main battery from draining below 12.7V and will alleviate a lot of the issues caused by that tiny AUX battery that's a pain to even get to.

Yeah, looking at the weld and the way it separated, I call dissimilar metals, wrong filler rod and not enough heat.

With the angle of the picture, it appears there is no penetration on the tab side whatsoever. The crack in the weld follows the edge of the tab perfectly. Any welder worth his salt would put a bevel on the end of the tab before welding. Of course they probably don't use weld symbols or a welding engineer.....
