Just hit 30k on my ecodiesel on 40s. I started to get the occasional shimmy when I hit large bumps. I did not want to be the guy stuck on the trail. I opted to go with metalcloak baller joints. After removing the stock joint I was surprised they were not in horrible shape. The Jeep seems to be more responsive now. I’m going to drive it for a week or so then check/adjust the preload on them. Now I have some piece of mind.

Looking at the same ones. I'm curious as far as the install and preload setting.

I made the install a lot harder than it had to be by fighting with my harbor freight press and installing the top joint first(mistake)Driver side took forever, passenger side went much quicker.

as for the preload I snugged down the bottom lock ring then tightened the uppers by turning the socket by hand just until I felt the resistance(don’t use a wrench) It ended up a little on the tight side but I’m going to run them as is for now until I get some miles on them and they have a chance to break in.

Seems like these are becoming the standard for replacement joints
