Hey Gang,

Been doing some searching around and it seems that there aren't too many (if any) bed racks that will be compatible with a tri fold hard Tonneau cover.

I currently have the low profile RC tri fold hard cover and it's been perfect with keeping the bed secure and dry.

I've been looking into racks to help haul and get some Kayaks and other stuff out of the bed and have been stumped with finding one that will work with a the cover.

it seems to me that either you can have a rack - but the cover won't open up and fold back all of the way (which sort of stinks).

I did recently come across this elevate rack system here: https://truxedo.com/rack-system/2022/jeep/gladiator which seems to work decent (other than the last fold) on a Ford Maverick. Has anyone used this one? Likes/dislikes?

Has there been anything new that anyone has discovered that would help keep a Tri-Fold working with a bed rack system?

Thanks for the time.

I have the Tuwa Pro Moab rack. It works with the trifold. You can't open the cover, but it fits and is secure.

That looks sharp.

But can you not open the cover at all to access stuff in the bed?

Or does it just open at the first fold?

Or does the cover just not open up all of the way back?

You can't open it at all. You would need a retractable cover.

Thanks.

Just for clarification - does the panel the furthest towards the hitch even open at all to at least slide stuff in and out? Not open up and back all the way - but open?

You can't open any of the panels even an inch. Your options for loading the bed are dropping the tailgate and sliding stuff in. For myself, I like it that way for making the bed slightly more secure.

I have the elevate racks with a quad-fold cover and it’s been a nice combination. You can read more about it here.

A tri-fold will work when the racks are in the upper position. I can see it working in the lower position, you may have to move the racks so they aren’t right on top of the folding section when it’s vertical.

Have you looked at https://gettrukd.com/ Not sure if it works on tri fold or not. But I have it for a roll up and it works great!

Acutally just got off the chat with them!

Apparently, their V2 racks that are on pre-order - the 24.5inch rack will allow folding Tri-folds!

Thanks!

This was just what I am looking for!

Between this and the new TRUKD brand that I have been researching - these are what I need.

I just wish the Elevate Racks had more accessories that you could have stuff off the sides. With that said, the price point is better than the TRUKD brand (but also less features).

Gonna have to think this one over for a while.

Do you haul Kayaks? Any issues with clearance?

How easy are they to move up/down.

A quick search on their website didn't show me or maybe I didn't see - but are there other assessors that you could mount to these racks (like a side sheet plate/bar)?

The t-slot rails came with 4 cleats that I’ve used on both the bed rails and racks. The cross bars of the racks have t-slots on both the top and bottom and have used the cleats up there to better tie down and secure cargo. The t-slots make the racks compatible with accessories from other brands.

Sounds like you may want to secure accessories on the side of the rack. You may be able to rig up something with u-bolts attached to the pillars, or, run a couple pieces of extrusion vertically between the bed rail and cross bar t-slots. See the DYI extrusion rack for ideas.

These come in handy to add things to the t-slots.

As for transporting kayaks, I’ve had plenty of clearance. There are two bolts per pillar you have to remove to raise or lower the racks. It’s not too bad with and extra hand to help keep it level.

That TRUCKD unit is pretty slick, but seems overpriced for not even coming with accessory panels.

Currently continuing to review and research -

It seems that the most compatible racks with a hard tri fold come from:

Max Modular 18" rack: https://www.max-modular.com/jeep-gladiator-bed-racks-1/max-modular-18-high-jt-aluminum-bed-rack

Does anyone know anything about the XTR1 Bed Rack? https://xtrusion-overland.com/colle...sal/products/xtr1-bed-rack-for-jeep-gladiator

It seems that they offer wide wing brackets for mounting and adding a tonneau cover. It appears that if you didn't order the Off-Road Reinforcement Plates for the corners of the top cross bars that a hard tri fold could fold under it such as the max modular / trukd brand...

Anyone with the XTR1 want to add to this?

Thanks.
