I have found that my headlights do a decent job when I am off road. The exception is when I go across a dry creek bed. When I am angled down the slope of the bank, my headlights point into the ground and I cannot see the line across the bottom of the creek bed. When I get to the other side, I cannot see the line going up the bank on the other side. On my last Jeep, I had a pair of Rigid D2 driving lights on the roof rack above the windshield. I aimed them pretty high when off road so that I could illuminate the areas the headlights did not cover. On my Gladiator, I do not have a roof rack. I have a spot to mount two lights over the hawse fairlead on the front bumper. The other option is A pillar brackets, but I am worried about glare, so my preference is to put the lights on the bumper, either square or round lights, but not anything big enough to interfere with air flow to the diesel engine. I want to stay with a quality American light, like the Rigid, but would consider other brands. While I am interested in brand recommendations, my real question is what is the best pattern for my use? Would I be better off with a flood or even a diffused flood for this application? I can find horizontal patterns for lights, but not vertical patterns, which seems more important to me for seeing what is "above" the headlights in these situations. Since I am normally in the flat areas of the Texas coastal plain, I generally don't have an opportunity to test things until I am somewhere that I need them to work. I am assuming that if I go with the flood or diffused flood pattern, I would eliminate the A pillar option due to glare on the hood, but if people have contrary experience, I would welcome their thoughts. To the extent relevant, I am not a speed demon off road.

Thanks.
