Thinking of doing big bend with the family. Being from Mississippi but working in west texas I somewhat know the terrain but have never wheeled there.
Any must haves for the area will be appreciated? Sat phone?
A tent and basic camping stuff. Take a first aid kit and know how to use it. There is fuel outside the park on the west side near Terlingua. Bring some binoculars and a telescope. The sky is beautiful out there at night. It also gets cold at night. My son and I camped there one year down by the river and saw upper 80's during the day and near freezing over night. Also explore outside the park. Around Terlingua is a neat area.
Edit: Plan ahead. Reservations there are hard to get in peak times of year.
My friend just got back. Awesome place. Bring all your camping gear. There is a Jeep badge of honor trail there. Black Gap. Download app and get a badge upon completion. Its a road in the park. Also I will send info o. Campground outside of park. Park normally booked this time of year. I plan to go in the next few weeks
