Long story short I forgot to latch my hood and when I went to drive it the safety latch didn’t hold and it flew up and hit over my windshield. It dented my hood and cracked the paint. I have gotten 3 estimates so far ranging from $800 - $1150. From most store they are running around $256.00 unpainted and around $62 for the rubicon decals. Should I purchase these and have someone paint them, get a body shop to fix it or go with an aftermarket that is better?

I’ve been in a similar quandary for two years. Deer dented the front of the hood, I was quoted $900 for the unpainted mopar hood, then body shop crap. So I haven’t fixed it. I actually had a local body shop look at it last week, along with a handful of other tiny cosmetic things around the vehicle. Depending on the quote, I’ll either leave it, fix it, or I found a carbon fiber rubicon aftermarket that looks identical. That might be the decision depending on cost.

Where did you find the carbon fiber one? Here is what I found online

I just had another idea, but it might be ridiculous since we’re in CO and WV. My hood dent is almost impossible to see, as I “hid” it with a mopar bug shield. I also have billet silver. If you wanted to buy mine super cheap, it would be an excuse for me to swap to aftermarket. No pressure. Just a thought.

It would need to make sense for you. And to make it reasonable, I almost think we’d need to meet halfway or something. Maybe it’s a dumb idea. Even if you got the hood from me for a super low number, to account for it not being perfect, travel or shipping would be crazy.

I'd use it as excuse for an aftermarket "custom". I couldn't justify a straight up swap, but when a replacement is in the works anyway, might as well.

Search for a used one and wait to find one your color... I just scored one for my 2015 mini Countryman one local in my color with a stripe kit for $400 local
