Also I don't drive much and do shorter drives, would that impact how often to change and would see that how on the uoa?
The oil life indicator takes towing and short drives into account. When I tow I see my percentage drop faster. Short drives where it doesn't get hot and stay hot for a length of time cuts the oil life monitor down as well. It takes oil temperature and other things into account.
It's the same way they know with a 4xe when to kick into FORM mode - "hey, short drives and your oil has never been hot enough for at least xxx minutes, we're going to force it"
It's not just a counter based on miles.

Thanks, though the motor gets to operating temp dam quick. Guessing that electric fan vs belt driven helps there.

Doubt I can go over 5k and.not be concerned.

Watch the oil temperature. That's what counts.
If it's not matching the engine temperature, it's not fully warmed. Then it takes time to burn out the moisture that forms.
I believe Blackstone suggests driving the vehicle for something like 30 minutes before taking a sample to ensure any fuel is burned out of the oil by the heat. I take mine for a nice long drive, make sure the oil is up to at least 190 for a period of time before pulling a sample (I sample through the dipstick tube.)

Dirtier engines of the 1970s were figured at 7500 miles between changes for "normal driving". I figure that to mean ideal driving. Today it's 10,000.
I went about 3,000-3,500 back then and go 5,000-6 or 7,000 today, depending on the oil monitor and keeping in mind my use of the truck. Typical is about 5 or 6. But if it's convenient and I'm close to a store or whatever, I might go less.

Thanks I will check tonight when we go to jiu-jitsu. That is about a 10 minute drive.

The link below is direct from Blackstone on guideance to interpet their lab results and formatting:

Thanks for this. No new or contrary information in there, so I believe my understanding of Blackstone data remains accurate and the suggestions in my posts should be helpful to folks wanting to understand their UOA.

Not everyone is an oil expert, so let's help each other out wherever we can.

The UOA is just one tool in the box.
