Makes me wonder if your testing company can distinguish it between Ethylene Glycol commonly found and used it vehicle coolants vs. Propylene Glycol that is way more human safe?

I cannot see Ethylene Glycol being used by any company as a cleaning agent if their product has any means to be in a vehicles lubricated parts system.
I’ll call the lab tech today and ask him this. I’m very curious too. I received my new catch can today that has a dip stick instead of a view window and I’ll spray out the hose with brake clean this morning and start this whole test again and see what the report says next month. This has been quite interesting

I'd love to see the numbers side-by-side vs the same oil from the crankcase, to see how the oil is being contaminated and changed by being pushed by the rings and vaporized.

I called the lab and was not able to talk with their top lab tech but did ask another tech about the glycol and she said the marker that alerts them to do a glytech test is to see high sodium numbers. I asked if the glycol was coolant or manufacturing glycol (like the “wash” used in the manufacturing and tooling of our transmissions). She could not answer that question but told me to call back on Monday when the lead tech will be in that can answer that.

I have a question for you all that might be able to answer … I have the catch can nestled in nice and close to the coolant bottle and we know the viewing window had broke which then would have had a vacuum leak there. Does the coolant bottle give off coolant evaporation fumes that could have been sucked in at the vacuum leak which would have contaminated the oil? The silicon (dirt) levels are very high, which tells me the vacuum leak also sucked in dust and dirt.

I installed a new, better catch can and I sprayed out the hose first with brake clean, then with throttle cleaner. The brake clean fluid came out brown at first until clear but then the clear throttle cleaner came out green. 🤷🏼

I’m going to run 1000 kms then dump out the catch can and do a full 4000 kms and change the engine oil and lab test both.
