Charging the Jeep Bluetooth speaker externally

looks like you’d need to find a 3.5mm style 16.5V, at least 2.7A charger.

From page 71 of my 2021 Gladiator manual:

NOTE:​

Power adapter needed for the Jeep® wireless​

speaker has to have a range of 14 VDC to​

16.5 VDC, with a minimum of 2.7A and a barrel​

connector dimension of 5.5 mm by 2.5 mm.​

Power adapter is not included.​

What a rip off price! Jeep has a TSB out with the charger to buy. You can get it on Amazon for half that price. All this is we have here is some moron bought the chargers and took picks of plugging the speaker into it. As if to

Oh sorry…. 3x as much! The charger that Jeep specifically says to buy (according to their TSB) is $9.99.

Looks like the charger works and from what I can tell the speaker needs to be powered on in order to give any actual indication that it is indeed charging.

Delivered next day. One mentioned was about 2 months to take delivery.

When I plugged it in, I saw a green flashing charging light. Turned it on and played some music from PC. PC showed batter life dropped, but later came back up. Was hovering around 50% and didn't seem to go up. I turned it off and the green light went off. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it's flashing again. Hopefully it will fully charge. I'm going to use it for sound and music as my monitors' speakers might as well not exist. Can't even hear them.

I did have to do a reset in order for my PC to see it. My phone could see it still.

Overall I like this speaker. I'm getting 10-12 hours out of a charge. It's great to have any time I need it.

Update: charger has been working fine.

i did figure out on some other forum there is a reset button on on the speaker. if you reset it then it charges. but i also bought a charging cord off amazon and threw in the truck too

Silly question but I didn't see it anywhere in this thread... when charging with an external charger does the speaker have any light indications? I purchased an external charger that should work (Volts and AMPS) but get no indications when it's plugged in. The charger indicated in the TSB is no longer available on Amazon... Thanks in advance.

I found that a lap top charger also works with 19v and 6.2 A

I believe it only charges when the engine is running.
