Hey all,
Here in Florida and got a ton of rain last night and this morning check engine light was on and Service Elec Stability light came on for a second as well. I'm wondering it this sounds like it could be due to the downpour we got somehow?

Anything I can check myself here? Anyone with familiarity with this?

Thanks

Could be water has migrated into the ABS module connector. I would remove it and blow it out and make sure their is no signs of corrosion. Would also check power and grounds going to it.

Thanks for the info. Will look into it. In the meantime before I have a full diagnosis, would you recommend not driving it, short distances etc? Sorta rely on the car, but don't want to damage it.

thanks

Should be fine driving it. If you ever drove a car from the late 1980's and back, they did fine without ABS. They are not unsafe to drive, just safer to drive with those systems enabled.

Appreciate the help. Hoping it's one of those things that magically dries up and light goes away :) But will dig in if not.

Update. The check engine light did go off after waiting most of the day.

Now a few days later, the light came on while driving so I turned the ignition off for about 45 mins and turned back on and total chaos, the christmas tree light up! All the lights came on, wipers going, no response from ignition button until the car finally turned off by itself.

After waiting another 30 mins I turned it back to find only the check engine light on. I was close to home and now I'm in the driveway scratching my head.

Any ideas?
