Cleaning bare metal parts

I've always managed to get the bare metal parts like a bumper clean but it's such a pita. The power washer thread got me thinking, would it work to load up a foamer with something like the purple Super Clean, spray it, let it sit, then keep blasting it off with that stuff? And then do the finishing acetone etc?
