Windshield Cleaning

Man the windshield on the Gladiator was just getting to be a mess. Between the film, water spots, and wiper marks it was getting hard to see in a hard rain. I bought some Stoner Glass Stripper, and man thats stuffs legit. It takes some work to clean and strip the glass, but it really gets rid of the gunk. I did the stripping and cleaning, then added new wipers and rainX. Significantly better visibility!

It's been mentioned here that the washer fluid sensors in the Jeeps have issues with Rain X in the reservoir.

I use it on the glass - but not their washer fluid. I think I've found something a bit better as far as cleaning and keeping it clean than Rain-x did for me on my 2020. Still evaluating.

I've used Rain-X since the late 80's would used nothing but on the glass itself. Just reapplied the other day before heading to the snow. Totally helped in keeping the road and snow grime from sticking to the window.

How Rain-X has not been sued out of business is beyond me. This is back when they only had the little bottle where you would put it on the exterior side of the widows after you cleaned your car. Its great, till you use your windshield wipers, then they just streak and cannot see out the windshield at night in the rain. I stopped using it years ago.

Invisible Glass I have been using since it came out. Easy and no streaks especially when cleaning the inside of the windshield and night driving. No steaks but need to use one rag to clean and one to wipe dry.

I just use the blue stuff diluted with distilled water in the tank, and some Windex on the glass when necessary.

Yesterday I tried my Invisible Glass and it was not cleaning very well so I ditched it for Windex. Then I followed it up with RainX. It's the first time I've used RainX in 30+ years. My first experience was bad because the wipers would streak and hop after I applied. But I thought maybe it's worth a second try so I bought a new bottle. We'll see how it works tomorrow when the rains roll in.

I've been using this for several years for primary cleaning. My local glass shop uses it.
I have been tinkering with a treatment product, but it hasn't rained much until recently, so the jury is out on that.

Seen pros use it, haven't found anything better for cleaning windows and it's safe on tint.
Cheap and easy to find anywhere too.

Only tried the Rain X many cars ago. Repelled nice but not good in the rain. ot a great cleaner. Maybe they improved their formula?

Cheap blue ammonia-based stuff works great down here in the marshes and farmlands. Did use an aero can of invisible glass once, no issues.
