Looking for another vehicle. Was thinking of a Compass or Cherokee. Anyone have any experience with either one. Likes/dislikes. Would probably go new, the used around here are almost the same price.

I had a Cherokee trail hawk with the 3.2 6-cyl. It’s a nice little SUV and has a rear locker which is cool for something in that segment. It can also tow 4500lbs(at least with the 6-cyl, not sure on the 4-cyl turbo) and has decent aftermarket support if you’re into modifying things. I only need one vehicle right now, but I’ll be in the market for a second one in a year or two and I’ll probably buy another Cherokee. Never driven a compass.

We had a compass sport for a while. Other than being extremely anemic, it wasn't a bad vehicle. Great in the snow, easy on gas, not bad to park. There isn't a ton of cargo space in the back. Ours also went through a motor, but the Cherokees have the same engine (at least they can), and I think they fixed those issues with the 2.4.

It did drive well, and as I mentioned, the AWD was fantastic in the snow. Only complaints (with the 2.4L) were that it was incredibly underpowered, and for me, visibility around the A- Pillar is poor, although my wife didn't have that problem.

Not sure I would consider the Compass and Cherokee as comparable. I test drove them both and the Compass was like driving a can on skateboard. Obviously an exaggeration but it felt and drove way cheaper than the Cherokee.
