Very nice project. Since you made it from such heavy stock it seems the second diagonal member is unnecessary. It definitely looks good for symmetry but it would be plenty strong without it and would cut down your weight a couple pounds.

You’re probably right it would be lighter without one of the cross pieces. I tend to over build things some times.

It looks stout and really good. Please don't take my comment as a criticism.

My tendency is to be a little too fault finding. Spent my work career as a Construction Quality Manager for Metro here in L.A. Old habits die hard.

I would be careful on how much weight you put in back like that. That is v ery similar to having a huge anount of weight on the tow ball. Don't want to be doing a bunch of whoops off road.
