DAC in Alpine 8.4?

Does anyone know if there is a DAC in the Alpine “premium” system in a ‘22 Mojave?
I ask because I wonder if using an outboard DAC (like one of the Audioquest Dragonfly’s) connected to my iPhone and using Tidal HiFi Plus would improve the sound? Or would it get converted back to lossy by the DAC in the Alpine? Thanks!

I don't think you're getting a better signal than the USB connection on this one. The Aux sounds worse to me and it's not the audio output given how much better it sounds through some good cans. The head unit almost certainly performs some processing on the input signal.

There’s got to be a DAC in there somewhere: you sure don’t send analog audio over USB.
An external DAC fed into the Aux. port might help, but then sending headphone audio from your phone to the aux. port might also be an improvement.
