About two weeks ago this car was sitting in my dad's (92) yard covered in dirt, leaves, bird droppings, mold, and it actually had some moss growing on it.
He hasn't driven in quite some time and the thing hadn't been washed in several years. Maybe 4?
While my wife and I were deep cleaning his house for him, while he was in the hospital, I ran across a vase on his dresser that had about 80 quarters in it.
I decided to take the car to the local wash to see what I could do for it.
I got most of the really bad stuff off of it, but it still needed a lot more.
This week I brought it home for a couple of days. Changed the oil, rotated the tires, fixed a bumper corner that was out of shape, and a few other minor repairs.
Then I decided to go all in.
I scrubbed it Dawn and blasted the leaves and crap out of the nooks and crannies. Got the engine bay cleaned up.
Got it clean and then put three coats of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions on all exterior surfaces, door jambs, etc.
The next morning I got going on the inside. The light beige leather seats were nearly black, so I carefully used Super Clean and Dawn in hot water.
Got the leather, dash and trim all cleaned up and then applied some Chemical Guys Leather Treatment.
The car only has 62,500 on it, but it's always been parked outside and under that giant willow oak.
The thing drives like a cloud, and it has less rust underneath than my 21 JT does.
It's a very very well-built vehicle.
I wish I'd taken some before pics.
The hood is pretty bad because that's what was taking the brunt of the tree droppings and abuse.
Some of the paint on the trunk lid and the side looks like brand new.
The build quality is insane compared to today.
He doesn't drive at all anymore, but my uncle still takes him shopping and to some of his appointments. They'll be riding in style for a while.
