The stabilizer is part of the system to dampers the lateral force. In a properly setup suspension/steering system, it shouldn't DW without the stabilizer. But, i don't think the factory setup considered as proper, so a functional stabilizer is required. Those who said that stabilizer doesn't helps with DW, but they all running them.

And that proves?

Check all posts - someone - maybe more than 1 someone, has said they've run without one and it was fine.
It's more for bump steer than anything.
Stock, these are fine and we COULD run without them, but why take them off since they do have a duty to handle or help with bump steer.

It's been beaten to death, even with posts from experts and engineers, the design today is sound.

If the factory setup is considered proper than guys won't be adding additional caster and or running $500 stabilizer.

I could be wrong, but seems to me that AMC was the company that introduced the steering damper to Jeep, and to Eagle.
Working on Jeeps and Eagles around 1980 or so, I can't seem to recall them prior to that time period. But then, that was a long time ago.

Having been raped and pillaged and robbed of all cash by Renault, AMC had little cash left for R&D. ->

AMC did have a steering damper, I believe it was introduced then to keep that easy steer GM gear box from not feeling so smooth. I remember you could steer those things by almost breathing on the steering wheel it was so easy to turn. That was when 32.5s were monster tires to the world ;)
