I made a pretty crude video of my install of the boom mat headliner kit. I decided to add to it by applying Kilmat to the roof prior to installing the boom mat. The stereo is much improved. I tried testing db with a couple apps but it bounced around a lot and always seemed to be between 76-81, at best probably a few db improvement. It may have helped with lower frequency but that makes the wind noise more pronounced. I kinda wish I wouldn't have rushed and done my original plan of applying the Kilmat then cutting some masonite to the size of bottom of boom mat, applying radiant barrier, sticking boom mat to that then using take it velcro to install the assembly. I was impressed that the boom mat was bevel cut to fit nicely. One thing I learned is don't apply much pressure at the areas above the recesses in the roof, it draws the foam down causing wrinkles.

How is the Boom Mat sticking to the Kilmat after it's been installed for a little while?

Haven't had any issues yet. Haven't gone through the heat of the summer yet. I thoroughly cleaned with IPA before install.

Glad to hear they're still going strong! I was curious because we only sell Sound Assassin strips for the hard top because our headliner's 3M VHB tape needs to directly adhere to the hard top surface for long-term adhesion. If you take a look at the below images, the Sound Assassin strips go in between where we instruct everyone to apply the 3M VHB tape for their headliners.

Boom Mat headliners are pretty light, so you might never run into any issues. If you ever need to re-prep anything, I'd recommend acetone over IPA.

Yeah weight was my concern with my original idea of wrapping a piece of masonite. I was a little concerned about adhesion to the foil of the Kilmat but definitely not too concerned about the Kilmat letting go. I was going to just do the recesses but when the piece of Kilmat fit almost perfect I just said the hell with it.
