Hello all. Was wait post anything about this problem as I think the tech team is working on this. But I thought what the heck, maybe someone else has already been down this road. And if not, hopefully it helps someone down the road.

So to start, I’m in Canada so my gladiator has daytime running lights. And on diode’s website it says may not be compatible with daytime running light spec vehicles. So there’s that.
I installed the lights around February of this year, and all was fine. As soon as I started the truck after the install the halo lights were white. The auto headlights did not come on as it was sunny out. I then jumped in to use the JSCAN to set the lights as LED lights. After that, I looked and they were amber. And they blink with my turn signals. All good.

So that was all fine till about May. Then I noticed in a reflection that my drivers side amber was out. But when I used the signal, it still worked. It’s out in this picture. Notice the other one is only partly lit. That’s the camera on my phone doing that.

I played around with the JSCAN settings, but nothing changed. I got fed up and drove it like that for awhile. Afterwards I also noticed that the little white LED backlight on the drivers was out. Weird.

So, come to July, and I pull up behind another vehicle and notice my drivers light is working, but now the passenger one isn’t!! WTH?

So that brings us to today. Still the same. But I also noticed when I start it from my app, everything works as it should, until I press the button and it goes back to the way it is now.
Here is a picture of the headlights on, and I was testing the drivers turn signal. And it worked.

Here is a picture of after I command started it from the fob.

So, I will say that the service department at diode dynamics has been helpful and on the case. This post isn't about bashing them or their products as the lights clearly work as intended. It’s my jeep that’s not playing nice. They asked me to reset my BCM, which I did and no change. I have played around in JSCAN a bit, but what’s strange is that they worked flawlessly for a few months. Then they went cattywompuss!

Anyone have any more ideas where to go from here??
If you made it this far reading my novel, I appreciate it.

Thanks. Yeah the team is on it already. Just thought I would see if others had any issues like mine with aftermarket led lights of any brand.

Thank you
Clarence

I've got the elite Max lights. Like yours, mine worked perfectly for several weeks then started acting strange. I had a great Diode rep but it still ended up taking a while to figure out. What mine ended up being was a problem with the Jeep's front passenger side DRL bulb. Replacing it solved the problems. The strange thing on mine is that the bulb worked as it should but my rep said it may have been causing interference with the voltage the headlights expected.

The problems with my lights were all apparent on the headlights themselves. Once the problems started, they would not go into offroad mode and I was unable to get into programming mode on the lights.

Once we started looking at the front bulbs the problem was fairly easy to pin down. When new I had replaced the factory halogen turn signal and DRL bulbs with Oracle LED bulbs. They still functioned fine while parked for inspection but one of the bulbs rattled when taken out. Back in March I replaced the bulbs with a set of LED from DD and have had no problems since.

Ok. Thanks. If I’m reading it right, you narrowed it down to the DRL LED bulbs you swapped out, then going to a DD LED bulb solved it? I currently have the stock halogen bulbs still in the DRL location.
But that maybe gives me an idea of something I can try or chase down.

Thank you

That is correct. I don't believe there was any need to use the DD bulbs but after all the troubleshooting help they provided, I felt a little obligated.

So to try chase this down some, I am going to start unplugging things. I'll start with the DRL. It may give me a bulb out warning, not sure, but at least I can see what the amber DRL does in the headlight. The headlight plugs right in line with the DRL so I can't wrap my head around how it is not getting power to the headlight halo. But we will see.

Just from what I went through, I feel for you. I spend about 4 months troubleshooting mine with a lot of help from the DD rep. I checked every connection dozens of times but couldn’t find a problem with a single one. I had the correct voltage everywhere and the right contacts in the headlight harness were hot when they should be. Like you, I used Jscan to change the lights to LED but I did it over 2 years ago and hadn't done anything recently so I didn't think that was the problem. What I kept coming back to was that the lights worked perfectly for over a month before the problems started and that led me to think it was something simple. I checked every fuse in the box several times and they were fine. It was the Diode rep that finally figured it out. After it turned out to be a DRL bulb, he said he had found a bulb in a Charger he was trouble shooting that was causing another strange problem and that’s what made him think to change the bulbs. I was to the point of living with the headlights as they were just because we had tried everything either of us could think of. Diode Dynamics gained a lot of respect from me simply from the time my rep put into solving the problem. If I am ever in Saint Louis I definitely owe the guy a beer.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I will dig into it deeper.
I will say that the guy I’m emailing back and forth with has been great as well. He’s in contact with their engineering team trying to also figure it out. I’m more than happy with the help they have been.
