Hey guys:

37x13.50R17's on a stock Rubicon 6-speed (leveled). Looking at re-gearing to 5.13's. Worth attempting it DIY? I'm pretty mechanically inclined, just afraid of the dreaded locker light issues (granted, there is the ZAutomotive fix). If y'all were to recommend a shop, any good ones in Central Florida? Willing to drive a ways I just do not want to pay an arm and a leg.

Thanks!

alot easier than a dana 35 or ford 8.8 with the shim on the outside of the bearing . 5.13 should be fine but the pinion will be the weak link . 4.88 will be right where the stock ratio would be with 4.10 and 285/70r17 . 5.13 will give you a little more juice .

Thanks for the reply! The only struggle I have with the 6mt is the fact that even stock 4.10 with 33’s it felt a little sluggish. This new unit vs the 6mt in my old JK and older TJ is very different in my opinion. I personally don’t think I wheel hard enough for justification on the stronger 4.88 pinion, but I will give it some more research. I plan on doing an expedition build (yeah, I know, how original) and with the weight added, plus the 37’s, I’m leaning more towards the 5.13’s. I’m looking for somewhere around 2,300-2,500 rpm at 75 in 6th
