Got back from the dealer and noticed my ODB2 plug is hanging and not in the bracket under the kick panel. Since it’s hanging it looks like there is a Y plug in the ODB2 port that I never noticed before.

The plot thickens because of 2 reasons
1. I disconnected but did not unmarry my TAZER Mini before the service
2. My Uconnect display would not come on and Bluetooth kept pairing and unpairing from my truck on my drive home from the dealer after plugging the Tazer back in at the dealer parking lot and heading home

The dealer did have to plug into the ODB2 port in the driveway as part of the checkin process. The knew I had a Tazer but the said don’t worry about us messing with Ty our computer because I was there for a suspension problem

When I got home I tried umarrying and marrying the Tazer. The display came on briefly in that process but won’t work. I tried toggling the screen off button so I’m pretty sure that’s not the problem.

I’ll email Tazer support tonight but thought I’d check If somehow this ODB2 plug might be something the dealer accidentally left in and part of the problem.

LOL - another one. There's at least 2 or 3 threads on these GPS tracking security devices dealers add. I ripped mine out.

I found mine when the OBD connector popped out of the bracket and was hanging down by my left foot.................
I disconnected it and put the OBD port - the factory one - back in the bracket. Case closed.

Make sure you call the dealer out for 1 not even putting it back together, that’s seriously unprofessional and I would feel terrible knowing a customer took their vehicle like that after I worked on it. And 2, call them out for adding it to the Jeep completely unannounced and with 0 knowledge to you, especially after you said you had a tazer

I bought the jeep from out of town and financed through MOPAR (0%), so i assumed the selling dealer added this due to the financing. I didn't think that maybe the dealer i got it serviced at (different from where i bought it) added it.

Tattletales isn't just a 70's game show. There are multiple threads detailing your circumstance/post; telematics isn't just an option anymore, unfortunately.

EDIT for pour grammer

i get your message, im just genuinely curious why they would care if they are not my insurance company. im guessing they can see how fast I've driven and other stuff just from the onboard computer and data without that added gps tracker.

It’s not about what you do with the vehicle… it’s where it’s at when you don’t pay for it.

No offense but I had to chuckle a bit...........
should be "poor grammar"
Yeah, the grammar and spelling DoJ at it again.

Anyway, some of this is done to sell you theft recovery, etc. - at least that's what it's about for SOME of them.
Not sure why mine had it since I special ordered the truck, it was bought and paid for cash, and picked up just hours after it was dropped off the transport truck at the dealership. Apparently that dealer I bought through puts 'em on all vehicles they get in - sold or not.

Unless you have the 5” radio. You’ll have Sirius XM Guardian, which has full tracking, this is just dumb and stupid on the sellers part. And if it’s financed through Chrysler then it’s 100% not needed

Yep. Mine was also a special order and I do have the 8.4 screen (although I didn’t renew my XM trial and never signed up with guardian). I was going to pay cash but I qualified for 0% financing with FCA.

id love to plug this into something that would power it and put it somewhere that makes them think they are still tracking me But confuses them. Who has a good idea? Take it on a plane ride?

Perhaps there are multiple answers; I've found these units placed in series with the diagnostic connector (such as in your case), with one "theft tracking system" application using a well-hidden transponder placed inside the tailgate of a 392 JLUR, only discovered when I was installing a heavy-duty gate hinge setup. That Jeep had recently been DX'd from another dealer; the unit having been installed there.

IIRC, back when LoJack (sp) was big, the customer received a passive tracker, etched glass, and "24 hour customer support". Perhaps this is the case with you, albeit this is all just speculation.
