A thought...

If, you install a partition, between the front and rear seats... and cover the rear with protective covering... Then the rear will not get soiled... and the front is kept clean and unaffected by the dogs in the rear...

With the back seats down... it is kinda high to just hop on in... What I do... is on the driver's side rear seats... I fold it up... for Holi, to get in... And once in... I fold it down... and arrange her bed... She is happy then... loves to be up high and looking around...

This entry method... will work well for your older dog... actually all dogs...

Just a thought... Much better for the dogs and easy to control the dog cleanliness story and effect...

A dog house in the bed... is problematic... especially when loading... much less finding and installing a shelter in the back...
Thanks, @Red for the suggestion... I already cart my pack around in the back of my Renegade - and get dog hair everywhere (Thanks to my long coat GSD, Rusty) and dog drool on the doors, windows, back of the seat, on the seats (with seatcovers on, of course, but it is YUCKY), and on the outside of the window sills when my Mastiff sticks her massive head out the window - so I have drool on the outside of the doors/on the door handles/etc (Thanks, Daisy!)... I don't have a problem with them coming up front with me -they're very well trained (when I'm in the car - once I leave Rusty moves to the driver's seat like any self respecting German Shepherd would do!)... so the partition doesn't really address the real issues of drool and hair. Unfortunately.

My Mastiff is 7 (going on 100) and is pretty much incapable of even a step up into the backseat floor without a boost (from moi) or a ramp (which is awkward through the door, but doable through the back hatch of my Renegade.) So I'm factoring her comfort in with the ramp up into the rear bed of the truck...

When I just had Rusty, the Shepherd, I just kept him in the backseat and dealt with the hair. The drool is tough... and I'm not going to leave my Daisy-girl at home... and not going to relegate her to the truck bed and keep Rusty in the backseat (not fair)... so I am looking for a solution that works for both.

Long winded response... hope it makes sense!

Hey @Lou3.6 ... would you have a link or name for the company you mentioned above? Thanks!!
Sorry, I got lazy, should of just looked it up when I posted, but >> americansafarijxi.com

Something I may be considering as my "last hurrah" vehicle buy if not the JT; the a JLU with either an Ursa Minor RTT or this COOL extension (with its own built in RTT ! Hey it's only money, can't "take it with you in the end ! Right ?
