Driving without instrument Cluster

Hey so I fudge up switching out my speedo faceplates and somehow damaged the MPH needle. I sent it off to get repaired to USSpeedo. I have a Heads up display so I can still drive and know how fast I am going.

My only concern is the Odometer mileage??? Will the miles driven without the instrument cluster update upon re-installation? Can anybody chime in on this?

Everything in the car is operational besides the rear view camera guide lines and the front cam won't activate without the cluster installed.

My guess would be that as computer controlled as this car is that is being stored somewhere on the onboard computers since it is a digital display for it.

Back in the old days with the tumbler style odometer you could litteraly change out the instrument cluster of your car that has 200k miles on it with one from a junk yard with 70 and no one would know the difference. You would have to keep up with the milage ect more concerning was people selling them as newer cars but that's a thing of the past. The milage is stored with the vehicle itself now so you should not have a problem and it should show the correct milage when you put it back in

Going by past experience with other FCA vehicles I have owned, the odometer on the cluster will not update when you reinstall it. Both the cluster and PCM will count and store the mileage independently.

I will also throw the caveat that while probably remote, if you take it in to the dealership for any kind of work that has them dive into the PCM and they find a significant mismatch between your PCM stored mileage and your cluster stated mileage, they can flag it in their database and void your remaining warranty.

As well as permanently flag your title potentially. I had a Motorcycle with a massive red flag on the title due to incorrect mileage showing up as some point in the history of the odometer. Guy seemed legit like it was a clerical error by the DMV especially back in the days of paper.
