Then I assume you don't mean consumer level, normal car (show car/exotic sports car?) matte paint? If not then I have no idea what you're talking about. The rugged stuff on construction equipment and military are going to be more expensive than consumer matte paints.

Anyone know what @Rocksalt is talking about? I feel like he's taking offense to his own posts lol. Any matte car paintjob I know of is more expensive than glossy/metallic paint.

Though I did just find this: https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/peel-coat/peel-coat-rugged-coat

Neat. Comes in a few colors, from blacks/grays/silvers/whites to an orangey-red and blue. From about $6-$17+/can. Says 1 can covers about 8sqft, though not sure if that's the 4-5 coats it says to do, I assume it is.

my point being a factory flat paint option would not necessarily be more expensive than the factory based colors with the clear coat. I asked you to provide proof of your claim. Seems fair enough.

Does that come with the lifetime warranty?

I have built many a hot rod. MANY. The good hot rod flat black is John Deere Blitz Black.
Cheap as shit. $25 a gallon. Goes on fine and lasts forever. It's tractor paint. Used for tractors left in the field.

At the bottom of this page is matte paint, that is what I was talking about, and asking you if you meant in the original post where we started talking about. I was asking if that is what you meant, that's all. I'm not sure that's what you meant so I asked if you were asking about a ruggedized paint or something else.

Now if Jeep offered a ruggedized option or package (that would be awesome) I'm sure it would be ordered a lot but I also bet it would be 1 of the most (if not the most) expensive packages.

That spray paint above though looks really interesting, I bet I could get away with using that for like $80/yr to ruggedize my truck for the summer months to go offroading w/o pinstripes. It's nice you can take it off and I'd use a bit less since I have my doors off when I do go.

That's awesome. Unfortunately I want a ruggedized paint to help keep away pinstripes an/or damage into the metal causing rust. That stuff is still really cool though, wonder how well it would work on our trucks, no real reason it should be different than rods or tractors.

Love the looks and protection it provides, but at what gas mileage loss?
Must weigh a ton now. Plus as mentioned before, the fading after a couple years.

I have a good friend that owns a Rhino lining business, Does stuff for me at almost cost. Thought about doing this to the whole truck, but my truck already gets crappy mileage.
When I was shopping for a Jeep, I didn't shop mileage. I bought the Gladiator knowing just what the MPG was.

@RickyBill great work! This is my second Jt done in Kevlar. This is my jtrd. To answer the questions yes it’s quieter, it added 86 lbs as I weighed before and after and it can take a beating. Totally love it for my needs. The process is not easy if you do it right. We ripped it right down as you will see from the pics.

Forgive me if I missed it in the preceding 4 pages but did you do the interior as well?

Wow, not nearly as harsh as what I'd think, that's really not bad and it looks awesome. I just have the plastic bumpers and always thought I'd just leave the powder coating on my steel bumpers if/when I got them but for les than $200/ea that would make me think twice lol. Man that looks awesome. Where's the "envious" smiley for your post?

May we ask what shop you went to? I was quoted $7 to $10k and all I want is the body. Mine is black so color match isn't a problem. Also how long did it take, I wouldn't mind taking a road trip and staying somewhere for a couple days.

Cool , but heavy
Not that heavy actually. Everywhere I read is around 70-75lbs for a full truck. That's less than bumper upgrades.
