So what was the actual mechanical fix you alluded to but did not mention three posts back?

I posted a video in this thread. The e-brake backplate came loose, all 4 screws were just doing rock tumbler action in the e-brake drum, chipping the ESC gear teeth and causing havoc

Yikes! Was that a factory assemble job on the backing plate hardware or was somebody else in there before?

Axle shaft replacement looks pretty simple though.
