Extra Key FOB?

When you order the fob you can either get it with a blank or laser cut. The difference was $10. I preferred to have the extra laser cut key so I have a spare and the $10 difference was negligible.

Have to agree with that one the 10 spot is negligible...

Used this technique this from my JL ownership, using it now on my JT.

Got a non-transponder key blank and had a local locksmith cut to match my key. Hid it in a top secrete place accessible from outside the Jeep.

Got a Faraday bag to hide my extra key fob inside the Jeep. The Jeep will not receive the signal
from the internal key fob while inside the Faraday bag, and can not be started/operated.

I can gain access and drive my Jeep if I were to loose my key fob. The non-transponder key will open the locked door, the alarm will sound off (if you locked the Jeep using the key fob) until you get your hidden key fob out and start the Jeep.

I just went through this, since I only received 1 key upon delivery. The JT keys are laser cut VIN specific. You order/prepay for one through the dealer for about $180, it comes pre-cut but not programmed. Then the dealer programs it for an hour of labor using dealerconnect .So like $250 all in.

We only get 1 key with out jeeps??? For 60k they should at least be giving us 2 keys!!!

You get two keys. Many dealerships tend to forget or lose the second one. This isn't a jeep dealership thing either. Happened to me with my ford, chevy and LR Defender.
