The whole dual top pricing has always been a bit confusing. I am looking at a premium soft top that has never been opened that was purchased as part of the dual top group. They want $1750 which I feel is way too high. I want to make a fair offer and not get gouged as I don't think they have that much cost in it to begin with and don't feel like they are entitled to getting 100% payback or more on an option they have chosen not to use. I hope this makes sense. I know if I were to go and buy new it would cost more than that, so just trying to find that happy medium.

If you are lucky, in the right place at the right time you can find a used one for around $1200. But for the most part $1700-$2000 is going rate. A local seller here on FB marketplace lists brand new ones in the box for $1800.

Thanks. Just trying to be fair. I just don't want to be that guy who insults you by coming in with a poorly thought out offer :)

I purchased an in box dual top group soft top back when I first got my JT. They sold it to me for $1200 and I was ok with that. Had seen a number of soft tops selling at that time around that same range. I don't see as many soft tops for sale now it seems in the market place or when I do they are selling for much higher. Perhaps that is because you have a lot more people wanting to go to Soft Top.

Thats good to know. My initial thought was $1250 was a solid offer and I would be willing to pay that without issue feeling like I paid a fair price, but that is $500 under asking so I was feeling stuck.

My neighbor bought his from a guy new in box for $800. He had to drive 6hrs to pick it up but I guess worth it. I got one new in box in my garage that will be never be used but the wife refuses to let me sell it, she thinks as soon as I do I'll want to use it.

Well unless your really needing to have it right now then keep on the look out and be willing to maybe drive a ways to get one. Coupe tanks of gas might save you some $$$$$. I drove about 3 hours each way to get mine.

Well if you don't ever plan to use it get some cash for it while the market is hot

$1200 seems to be the going rate around here. That's for lightly used or open box. Bought mine from a guy in ID for that plus shipping. I was very happy.

I'd like to but she would kill me and maybe but a hold on the jeep spending. She's been pretty loose with letting me spend what I want lately. I don't want to mess up my Hemi plans.

I could be wrong but I bet they won't get asking price for that top and will be sitting on it unless there is just someone out there flush with cash and just has to have it now. They might either sit on it for long time or reduce price.

I paid $900 for mine, new in box, about 4 months ago. They had the dual top option, did not want it taking up space, and listed at $1,200 (maybe even $1,500 originally). The listing had 1 grainy picture of the box, but it was legit. I offered $1,000 and they accepted. When we could not work out a meet up time, they cut another $100 if I drive the whole 3 hours each way, which I did. Everyone seemed happy and we talked about our JTs for a while. Keep waiting and looking and I feel like deals can be found with reasonable folks.

I often see people saying that they find the dual top pricing to be confusing, but it may help to think about it like this:

The base price of the jeep includes a soft top. The hard top option replaces that soft top with the (more expensive) hard top; so you are just paying for the upgrade. The dual top option is the full cost of the hard top, because you are getting the soft top included in the base price, and adding the hard top to that (instead of replacing the soft top with the hard top).

Most of the pricing people have paid makes me feel I'm in the ballpark. I can definitely wait it out for my price. Thanks
