Here is the new Gladiator, quite the vehicle!

And also a picture of the foil if anybody knows what it is. I'm used to an old Wrangler and if it had any foil back in the day I don't remember and it's not shiny anymore

Nice choice. Welcome to the truck that's fun-to-drivability, is only exceeded by its capability, and always appreciated utility. The kids love it and the wife approves of the safety, (I told her the safety features are dramatically enhanced by the 3" lift, 37's, and offroad lights.) She totally believed me, (I get to move back home next week.) If I might ask? Did you consider other trim models, or was Rubicon the trim you know you wanted?
Thanks!

Reason for the Rubicon:

I was actually waffling between the Sport S since it was deeply discounted. That said with the Sport S I would have had to live with the tires for 30000 miles or longer...or just trash them and upgrade them. That would be a waste of $$$. Then would have had to buy skid plates...lockers...didn't seem to make sense.

My dad bought a 4 cylinder Wrangler Sport back in 93 instead of getting the 6. While we rarely made it to a location we couldn't get past, there were plenty of areas where we had to take several goes at it. And sometimes with a lot of tire slipping. Sometimes had to turn back or go around.

Always missed having a little more strength and I didn't want to do something similar. I intend on keeping this thing forever, so it was buy once cry once. I think back at some of the more difficult trails Ive driven and realized how nice having lockers and bigger tires would have been instead of getting all that tire spin. With the Wrangler I can maneuver that thing pretty easily to get the more simple lines. And I assume the Gladiator needs more features than a Wrangler because it's wheelbase is longer.

So Rubicon it is

One thing I need to get used to is shifting in 4H and 4L and learning to turn on the lockers. I bought an automatic and the Wrangler is pretty straightforward with the 4H and 4L because it's a stick shift- gotta always use the clutch

Congratulations and enjoy the new ride. For me, it's awesome to see my grandkids smiles as we cruise with the Sunrider top open and the windows down. Their mom's do not like the idea of the doors off yet.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Rubicon.

Back about 5 years ago I wanted a Wrangler but with kids had to settle for an SUV...although I tried talking myself into possibly going with a Grand Cherokee (i dont consider it a real off roader) or somehow fitting the family in one of those 4 door longer Wranglers.

When the Gladiator came out, wanted one but had recently bought a car and didn't need a 3rd car. And still had an old Wrangler I split time with.

Now with the Gladiator, have a real off road family machine. Can off road and still lug around gear/family stuff. Been tracking them for a few years and the % off MSRP got me to finally sign for one. Pretty excited
Congratulations and welcome to the Gladiator obsession!!
