First time at Cape Lookout

And we got our asses kicked. I didnt get to do much videography there as it was just constantly fixing issues. My dad passed away 2 years ago and my goal was to bring my mom along and have some good memories as she is getting older and my sister came too. Our younger kiddos hadnt been to the beach ever and it was just lots of "firsts". My mom is typically very rugged, hiking through the woods in winter no problem but she was not having the greatest time on this trip lol. I kept telling them to not bring tons of stuff to lug around and they wouldnt listen. ? The simplest of tasks just seemed really complex for everyone and I found myself just fixing any problems and never got to relax for a second.
We werent ready for the wind, we thought a nice breeze will be awesome. But it was non stop almost 20 mph the whole time. Every single thing was trying to blow away.

Power- I couldnt keep people out of the fridge- 3 kids, 4 adults and everyone was just opening that lid and digging around CONSTANTLY. My eco flow river max and 160watt solar couldnt keep up when it was overcast. I bought an extension cord for the solar and it would not work. wasnt good.

Bugs- Everyone told us bugs are a thing but I didnt personally feel they were bad. Never got bit once. My wife lost her arm sadly to them and my middle daughter barely survived apparently.

Ferry ride - it was cake, we used Davis and we heard bad things about them but they were chill as heck.

Lastly- I bent the frame on my trailer in two places! Hope to get it fixed her soon, just needs beefed up some.

Haha! Thankfully the roofnest awning and our tuff stuff alpha did fine. They had a walmart ground tent I was surprised it survived. We weren't expecting wind like that!

All of the Carolina beaches are deadly when the winds are blowing from inshore to offshore.
The flies look like houseflies, but they are vampires.
By the way the pelican flies you were 25 miles from where we usually set up camp, in my friend's two story beachfront home on Emerald Isle.

4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, lovely kitchen, dining, den with beach views. TV, Internet, AC, fireplace, hot showers. You get the idea... screw camping ?
